SUSAN MARIE OWENS

Sadly on September 10, 2023, my dear mother, Susan Owens passed away peacefully at the St. Boniface Hospital, to be with her Savior.

Predeceased by her younger daughter Michelle; her husband Alex; brother Joe; sister Helen and parents, John and Marie.

Susan will be truly missed by her oldest daughter Pat (Jim); grandsons, Jamie and Paul; whom she all adored and was so proud of. She also leaves behind her dear sister Marge; brother-in-law Aurel (Edna); nieces and nephews.

Born on the family farm October 25, 1934 to John and Maria Telgarsky, one of four siblings. A true farm girl at heart. In 1956, she married her late husband Alex and together they had two daughters. In 1958, they moved to Transcona and made their home there until her passing. She was an educator, teaching a great part of her career within the Transcona School Division.

Susan was a remarkable lady with a beautiful soul and a deep faith in our Lord. As she faced difficult challenges, her faith gave her much optimism. She loved people and they loved her.

She lived life to the fullest and was always on the go. When healthier she did ministry visitations with the community, loved to travel, reading, word searches, cooking, baking, canning and making jams. Her vegetable garden gave her much pleasure. What gave her much joy was hearing her daughter Pat sing. She loved most sports but was an avid Blue Bomber fan. Outings to Smitty’s, Friday night dinners at Joey’s or McDonalds for a fish fillet and of course coffee from Tims.

We the family, wish to thank everyone too many to mention, those who visited mom, offering much love, support and prayers, all the delicious food, baking and Tim’s coffee. A “very special” thank you to Debbie W., who went over and beyond for mom and was with mom during her final moments. Also, to all the wonderful staff at St. Boniface Hospital E4, who provided mom with excellent care during her stay. God bless you all!

A mass will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment and reception will follow the mass at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.

In honor of mom, donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Building Fund.

  • Sincere sympathies Pat and family.! Susan and I were in the same class at Normal School. Enjoyed her sitting beside her. Later the Baudry bunch met her at a special event. She had gone to school with them. Thereafter we've met occasionally with her inseparable sisters, Helen and Margaret. How she loved to laugh! All good memories to cherish,! No doubt God was super happy to welcome her and other family members. God Bless you Pat and your family . My sympathies to Marge. - Posted by: Therese Baudry (A friend since Normal School) on: Sep 16, 2023
