Evadna (Eva) peacefully passed into the presence of Her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, whom she loved and served.
She seldom missed an opportunity to let others know that she was praying for them. She will be remembered by her smile, positive attitude, being organized and a great listener.
Eva was born in Barbados where she accepted The Lord as a teenager. She came to Winnipeg in December, 1970. She lived and worked for the Corne family, who became her Winnipeg family to present time. She graduated in 1975 from St. Boniface LPN program. She then graduated in 1979 from the Misericordia School of Nursing RN program.
Eva worked at St. Boniface Hospital for 28 years. She worked in peritoneal dialysis for 23 years instructing patients, family, staff in rural hospitals and nursing stations to do home peritoneal dialysis. Eva retired from nursing in 2003.
Eva was a camp nurse at Faith Bible Camp (Victoria Beach) from 1990 to 2003. She also volunteered at "Things" for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for over 10 years.
Survived and lovingly remembered by her sister, Norma Sargeant (Virginia, USA), other siblings, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.

My dearest Evadna, wow you were one very special lady. I worked with Eva in the early 1980’s on a surgical unit. She was a true joy to work with and was a hard worker. She had such a joy about her and always took time to listen to what people had to say. That was her amazing gift amongst others. We saw each other ear en my as we both went our separate ways in our careers but Eva know that you were loved. I will see you again my friend. Love Louise My sincere condolences to her family and friends - Posted by: Louise Frechette (Friend and collegue) on: Sep 25, 2023

Eva will be forever remembered for her smile and laugh. Her honesty and straight forward approach was always appreciated. We met, over forty years ago when Eva was one of my first mentors early on in my nursing career. Good afternoon I will start by saying how much I'll miss hearing my auntie's passive, cool, soft spoken genuine voice. From the time I knew her she was always that way, you could hear how cheerful she kept herself even during a telephone conversation, not to mention how her smile would brighten any cloudy day, that was my auntie. I can't recall her in any disgruntle moments even though she was ill. I know the angels will watch over her may she continue to sleep in peace. Love you auntie 💖 - Posted by: Kay, Kathleen Quintyne (Niece ) on: Sep 19, 2023

Without a doubt reflecting on the life of my Aunt, I know she lived a spiritual life and everyone whom she came into contact with can agree this is a fact. It was a blessing to know Aunty Evadna, from her kind words of encouragement or thoughtfulness, she was one of God's angels sent here to earth to fulfil God's plan. Now her work here on earth is done, she has returned to the creator and will continue to watch over us. Death only ends the physical life, but in our hearts through our thoughts/memories Aunty Evadna will live on for many more years. I love you and will miss you greatly Aunty. To all of her spiritual Canadian family in Christ, i extend my deepest sympathy to you and thank you for your gifts of friendship exchanged with Aunty throughout the years of her life. May the blessings of God be with you all. - Posted by: Raphael Carrington (Nephew) on: Sep 18, 2023

Dearest Evadna We have been together for a lifetime. You have been my sister, friend, confidant, cheerleader, and a constant and treasured presence in my life. Over the decades, we have traveled across the border to support each other in good times and in times of need. I had never envisioned a time when I would not be at your side to support you, but time and circumstances got in the way. I will miss our daily conversations. You have a special place in my heart. I will treasure our memories forever. Now you are safe in the arms of God. Rest in Peace, My Love. - Posted by: Norma Sargeant (Sister) on: Sep 17, 2023

Met Eva when we were participating in a healing group for cancer survivors. She was such a delight, her wit, her quick humour, her caring ways. She always had time for others and was praying for many of us at any given time. A real gem! She will be missed. - Posted by: Joanne Adair (Special "cancer" friend) on: Sep 17, 2023

What a great photograph of dear Evadna and her wonderful smile! Evadna was such a kind and caring person, who took a real interest in the lives of so many people. Evadna was an excellent nurse...not only at St. Boniface Hospital, but also as a volunteer nurse at Faith Bible Camp...for many years. Evadna's positive attitude and cheery phone calls will be missed by many people. Even when she was unwell and in lots of pain, she never complained and always wanted to find out how you were doing. - Posted by: Ken Hayes (Friend) on: Sep 16, 2023
