• Oh my, even though I'm hearing this a year and a half late I am so sorry to hear this news. I was sitting here thinking about how Marlene and Ted's encouragement changed my life when I worked at Dominion Tanners. Marlene put in a good word for me when we were taking accounting class together and Ted encouraged me to go back to accounting school when I worked for him. He was the first person in my whole life that encouraged me to further my education and that I was worth something. I was looking him up today so I could contact him and give him and Marlene my heartfelt thank you. I know they would be proud of me and how I've learned to stand on my own feet and now I'm the Production Controller, Maintenance Planner for our Manitoba Water Bombers. • I worked under Ted in the 90s and always considered him a mentor, as an engineering Technologist in management Ted encouraged and pushed me to go back to school in business management. I am forever grateful for that advice achieving my MBA has opened many of the doors that Ted exactly said would happen. • Upon learning of a friend’s passing, I have mixed emotions. First, there is sadness that the final chapter of, in this case a childhood companion, had arrived. But then good memories surface and I smile. This is the earliest. As “pre-schoolers” we lived about 10 houses away from each other at a time when back-lanes were our playground. I fondly remember that one day we found a can of discarded paint and used sticks to re-decorate our tricycles. The parental consequences of our actions are less clear. I hope my anecdote brings Ed’s family as much pleasure as it does for me. Life took us in different directions, but our reunion at the Weston Boys Golf Tournament was a momentous day for a number of us. We will miss him.
