  • My condolences on the passing of Joan Templeton. Whenever our family referred to her it was, you know,Joan Templeton…. Back in the 70’s my mom (Ruth Lippens) became friends. I believe it was my mom who got Joan hooked on volunteering at Bourkvale community club where our family had learned to play hockey, figure skate and hold sock hops. In 1974, my mom passed away. I was quite young at the time but do remember the great friendship they shared and the comfort she brought our family in our time of need. I remember her as such a wonderful person. After reading all the things she accomplished in her lifetime, I know my memory to be true. R.I.P. Joan and may you be laughing with all your friends who we’re waiting for you. • With heavy Hearts we say goodbye to a very special Lady. We met Joan while we were working at Bourkevale Community Center. She was so easy to talk to and we had a lot of laughs together. She never really sat still for very long she was always on the go. Her whole Family was involved at the club in some way or another. We offer our deepest sympathy to Ron, Mike, Cindy and their Families. She will be remembered. - Posted by: Gail and Doug Gill (friends) on: Oct 02, 2023

  • I met Joan at Spruce Sands. I was friends with Cindy and had the pleasure of getting to know Joan in the summer months around campfires and enjoying the beach. She always had stories to tell about her family and friends. She was proud of her grandkids. She always had candy in a bowl on her coffee table and one day showed up with a candy jar filled with salt water toffee for me. I will miss our talks around the fire the most. - Posted by: Brenda Youngwr (Friend) on: Sep 25, 2023

  • We are very saddened to learn of Joan's passing. Together with Ron, Joan was almost a permanent fixture at Bourkevale Community Club, looking after whatever needed doing at Club events and activities. She will be deeply missed in this neighborhood. Our sincere condolences to Ron, Mike, Cindy and all the Templeton family in your time of loss and sorrow. - Posted by: Jae & Rhoda Eadie (Bourkevale area neighbours) on: Sep 24, 2023

  • Moving back to Manitoba 24 yrs ago Joan and Ron welcomed me to this special area of St. James as a next door neighbor. Joan loved her gardening and would often point out that I was watering weeds, she added to my gardens with plants and tips. Joan was very active with the Bourkevale Community Club for years and most proud and supportive of her Mike and Cindy and their partners and then her grandchildren, and they loved her. Christmas was always her baking utopia time and gift packets of ginger cookies, nuts and cakes on my doorknob. I will miss my neighbor, gardening advisor and friend Joan. - Posted by: Morgan Willacy (Neighbor next door and garden advisor ) on: Sep 23, 2023

  • Oh how I miss Joan's weekly phone calls or visits. We were friends for over 40 years and what a blessing it was to have Joan as a true friend of gold. We shared so many happy memories at Bourkevale Community Club putting on banquets, the ladies auxillary, the Girl Guide Company and of course hall rental and the canteen. It was so hard to watch Joan go through so much pain this last while. You could hear it in her voice but our last chat on the Friday before she passed, she was so happy to take a walk through her beloved garden and munch on a grilled cheese sandwich. I cannot speak to how much Ron, Cindy, Michael and her beloved family meant to her. She spoke with so much joy of each and everyone of you. My appreciation to you Ron for bringing her for our cherished visits with her care packages in tow. I will miss you so very much Joan. I hope your pain is gone and you are busy visiting with your Mom and having a great time with your dear friend Peggy. We know you will be busy in some way. With all my love and prayers to everyone who has lost such a precious angel. - Posted by: Linda Neuls (Friend) on: Sep 23, 2023
