JOY LEE TRUSSLER

February 13, 1963 -

September 18, 2023

Joy passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, family and friends. She was surrounded by so much love. She was excited to see Jesus. God is good. Joy was a shining light of God’s love. Griffith Wiebe, Joy was my companion and my best friend, for 30 plus years, my sweet Joy, I will miss you so much.

Joy was predeceased by her mother Valdean Gail (Pruden) Trussler and grandmother Ruth Olivia Poitras and grandmother Joan Trussler, grandfather James Trussler.

Left to cherish Joy’s memories are brothers, David, Cary and Shawn, nephews, Taylor and Austin, uncles and aunts, Wayne (Kathy), Terry (Heather), Bert (Pamela). Jack and Judy Tye were very important to Joy’s life. Joy loved them very much. Also, many cousins and friends.

Pastor Bruce Logan (Calvary Temple) has been following us in hospital for over 20 years. Joy and I are so grateful to have Pastor Logan in our lives.

Joy was kind, gentle, soft spoken, always thinking of others, beautiful smile, bright sparkling eyes, beautiful spirit, living angel, beautiful Christian woman. Joy had the perfect name, she was always full of joy.

Joy was a member of Calvary Temple where she was baptized. She taught Sunday school. She was involved in many years of the Christmas program play, the Messiah, at Calvary Temple, as an actor and make up artist. She was also, a counselor at Red Rock Bible Camp.

Special thanks to doctors, nurses and staff in the Palliative Care Program at Riverview Health Centre and St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Program. You made Joy’s time very special at both places. Thank you for your kindness, Joy loved you all.

Special thanks to all the doctors and specialists and pharmacies, that looked after Joy.

  • I’m so sorry to hear of Joy’s passing. We haven’t seen her for a long time but I will always remember her beautiful spirit and smile. She had such such a positive attitude every time I would talk to her. Our condolences to Griffith. Our prayers will be with you. • Joy and I were the sisters to each other that neither of us had and were extraordinarily blessed with 4 decades of beautiful friendship ❤ The kind of friendship that life could get in the way of and not affect a single thing. Every encounter started with a long, happy hug and no matter how long it'd been since we last connected, we just picked up right where we left off. This summer was no exception and an extra special blessing. We spent many hours reconnecting and enjoying every moment we had together. When the time came to end our visits, we resisted parting ways...Our "see you later" always long and drawn out. It was truly a precious gift for me to have had this time with Joy and to have the opportunity to support her in her quest for freedom ❤ I have always admired Joy more than words can say. My heart goes out to Griffith, her family and many dear friends. Joy consistently presented herself to me with an abundance of pure love, grace, light and positivity; an aptly named human being indeed. Her soft, angelic voice, sparkly eyes, beautiful smile and playful spirit are permanently etched upon my heart 💕 Joy loved a good party and enjoyed my dubbing of September 18 as JOY DAY; a day to celebrate her and honor the freedom she fully welcomed. There's a deep comfort in knowing that no goodbye was needed, for we both believe that our friendship is eternal and continues on an energetic level 💕 - Posted by: Lisa Moodie (Dear Friend) on: Sep 30, 2023

  • I have had the true pleasure of knowing Joy since 1987. she and her Partner (Griffith) have become like siblings to me and a "Godmother to our daughter Katelynn. I have never seen a bond as strong as the one between Kate and Joy. Joy was always full of love passion and peace, I will miss her so much. Our heart goes out to Griffith. - Posted by: shane crawley (long time friend) on: Sep 23, 2023

  • Joy was my dearest friend, actually more like my sister. We had a deep connection even though we lost touch for awhile we both knew how deeply we loved one another. I visited her recently for the first time in a long time and we both instantly broke into tears sobbing and embracing each other like it would be our last…and sadly it was. Life will never be the same without you. May you be beyond blessed in the next life, my friend, as I was in this one by knowing you. Love always Barb - Posted by: Barb Rogers (Friend) on: Sep 23, 2023
