Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) THOMPSON
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of their father, husband and poppa on Saturday, September 23, 2023. He passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side at the Bren Del Win Lodge in Deloraine, MB.
Robert Allen James Thompson was born on April 23, 1940, in the Whitehead Municipality area of Brandon, Manitoba to parents, Jessie and Walter Thompson. Bob was one of three children and will be remembered by his siblings: Margaret (Dennis), Reese, and George (Martha) Thompson.
He is also survived by his wife Fern of 43 years, daughter Kelly, step-daughter Tracy, and his five grandchildren who were the light of his life. There was not a day that went by that he wouldn’t have stopped everything he was doing to help out his family, or teach them the many lessons that made his family the generous caring people he wished them to be.
Bob spent most of his day busy on the farm, always finding something to do. He was a cattle farmer then later focused solely on grain. He enjoyed remodeling model T trucks and cars, and would take off to the States many of weekends just to get away. He enjoyed fishing with his grandson, going for drives in his truck and watching the grandchildren play their sports. During his younger years he was a man of all trades, welding, rigging, operating cranes, belonged to the Iron Workers association, worked up north in the mines, the list was endless.
A private family graveside service will take place at the Brandon Cemetery as Bob was a very private person. The family would like to thank the Bren Del Win Lodge in Deloraine for the genuine care they provided.

I was lucky enough to work for the Thompsons during 1970 and 1971. During that time I lived in their home. The whole experience was very positive. I drove a 1940 Chevy at the time. Bob helped me out with some mechanical problems on the car and went me their 1950 chev grain truck so I could go to Brandon on the weekend. We both had a love for the old cars and trucks. As a matter of fact I still have that same car, and use it every summer as my daily driver. My experience with the Thompson family was positive. Bob was an unbelievable boss and friend. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: leonard Holm (Farm worker) on: May 11, 2025

We are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I (Marjorie) always called him Mr. T and he smiled! We worked with Bob in the construction industry and with cranes and Geo Rey. - Posted by: Randy and Marjorie Christiansen (work mates) on: Sep 30, 2023
