Shirley was the daughter of Molly and Norman Gordon, growing up on Walker Avenue and remaining a Fort Rouge resident for the majority of her life. She was a life member of Rosedale United Church (Churchill Park United), sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was very active in the United Church Women’s Association - Unit 5. Shirley’s “little piece of heaven” was the cottage at Winnitoba; Florence lake. She first visited there at age six in 1929. That summer she met Graham Pincock, age nine, and it was the beginning of a lifelong loving relationship. She cherished her summers at the lake, enjoying all that cottage life offers. She spent over 80 beautiful summers at Florence Lake.
Shirley attended Lord Roberts Elementary and Kelvin High School. She was in her final year of nursing during the war when she left to join Graham, a doctor in the Airforce, who had been transferred to Toronto. They were married in Toronto on September 4, 1943. They lived in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Regina, Oak River and Winnipeg. Shirley and Graham built their forever home at 501 Churchill Drive in the Lord Roberts area in 1949, just in time for the 1950 flood.
Shirley joined the Fort Rouge Curling Club in 1956 and was an active member, curling both competitively and socially for decades. She was a founding member of the Three Sheets to The Wind curling group and remained an active social participant.
In retirement, Shirley and Graham liked to spend a portion of their winter on the beautiful island of Kauai.

It is hard to summarise in a few sentences the memories, contribution and the legacy of my aunt. My real memories start when our family moved to Winnipeg in 1960. I only had the opportunity to spend a few of the 80 Years my aunt was at Winnitoba. However anytime I had the opportunity, I was more than welcomed as one of the family. Winnitoba was my summer home for several years as I finished high school and university. It was definitely Shirley’s special place as she effortlessly fed the assembled crowd. Of course her blueberry pies were the special treat for everyone and my favourite. During my university days, 501 Churchill was almost a second home and always welcoming. Special events such as Christmas dinners with the extended family were wonderful celebrations. The last time Pat and I saw Aunt Shirley was at the celebration of her 90th birthday. We were grateful to be present at that celebration and to see how Shirley was respected and honoured by her extended family. Aunt Shirley had an extraordinary life which left a legacy for us all to remember. On behalf of Pat, me and my family I extend my condolences to the extended Pincock and Gordon families. - Posted by: Fred Pincock (Nephew) on: Oct 03, 2023
