LLOYD SAMUEL PARCELLS

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Lloyd Samuel Parcells of Lindsay, Ontario, on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at the age of 79. Lloyd passed away peacefully in his own home, surrounded by members of his family.

Born on March 8, 1944, Lloyd is survived by his three children, Deborah Gail Parcells, Kimberley Anne Parcells and Jamie William Parcells, all of Winnipeg and his two sisters, Ialean Foster and Ruby Craig of Lindsay. Lloyd is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Susan Jane Parcells of Peterborough; his parents, Arthur and Irene Parcells of Lindsay; and his siblings, Gerald Parcells of Calgary, Flossie Barker and Reginald Parcells of Lindsay.

Lloyd is the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Bradley James Parcells, Brooke Elizabeth Parcells, Scott Samuel Parcells, Terry Gail (Josh) Deehan, William Edward Hayward and Jessica Jane Maria (Jace Richarde) Parcells, all of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his four great-grandchildren, Janie Noël Richarde and Everleigh Aura Grey Richarde of Winnipeg and Maeve Elizabeth Deehan and Naill Roy Edward Deehan of Windsor, Ontario.

The youngest of six children, Lloyd married our mother, Susan, in 1965, in Lindsay, and together they moved to Thompson, Manitoba, where he worked as a nickel miner for Inco Limited. They eventually moved to Winnipeg, where Lloyd worked a number of jobs, eventually graduating from the plumbing program at Red River College in 1977. Always the hard worker, Lloyd was able to perfect his craft, opening his own business with his wife, L.S.P Plumbing, and also worked as a very proud member of Winnipeg Transit, until retirement in 2005, serving 26 years.

Lloyd was well known in his community, was an active member of his church, and incredibly involved in the lives of his family. A greater husband and father there simply did not exist.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dedicated homecare aids that had come to know our father and treated him with an exceptional amount of care during his prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Lloyd will meet his final resting place on October 10 at 11 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, with an intimate reception to follow shortly thereafter at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations may made be made to Parkinson Canada (www.parkinson.ca).

Rest in peace, dad,

“Butch”, “Plumber” and grampa.

Wander no longer.

You are on the road home.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • While I recall how caring he truly was, I still recall all those "grandson and grandfather" moments we shared... I worked alongside my grandpa (Lloyd) during some of his plumbing jobs between 1997 and 2012. And while my grandmother (Susan) helped to some degree, he saw how much more support and care I sometimes needed... even if it were just through jokes to help cheer me up and make me laugh. He also showed me around the Winnipeg Transit depot (the Osbourne Village location) a few rare times... something no one else ever took the time to do for me. My sister (Terry) and my brother (William) both would cherish their memories of him too... as well as our mother (Kimberley). May his soul rest in peace alongside his recently deceased wife. - Posted by: Scott Parcells (grandson) on: Jan 15, 2025

  • I think of Lloyd's gentle manner, smiling face and his faithful attendance at Cornerstone Church. Occasionally Lloyd would thank me as I played a familiar song on the piano. I pray comfort and strength for the family at this time of sadness. May faith in God give you peace as you remember and mourn. - Posted by: Carol Seburn (Friend from Cornerstone Baptist Church) on: Oct 06, 2023
