DARLENE (OHLINGER) CROLLY

With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Darlene (Ohlinger) Crolly, age 80, on September 22. After a short illness, she left this world peacefully, surrounded by family and an abundance of love from her many friends.

Darlene is mourned by her husband of 57 years Jack, her children, Colin Crolly (Jennifer Oborne Crolly) and Allison Crolly (Ken Dessler) and her four grandchildren, Aiyana, Georgina, Isaac and Jake and her brother Glen Ohlinger. She also leaves behind a vast group of friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

While born in McNutt, SK from the age of 10 Darlene called Manitoba home. She finished high school in Minnedosa after which she moved to Winnipeg to attend nursing school. During this time Darlene met the love of her life, Jack.

Ultimately, they settled in Thompson which would be their home for 30 years before returning to the Winnipeg area.

Nursing was a great joy for Darlene. She ultimately became the head nurse in pediatrics in Thompson. It was a vocation she both loved and excelled at. Her dedication to the patients, particularly children of northern Manitoba, was obvious to all.

Darlene adored her husband Jack, her children, and her grandchildren, and they adored her in return. She loved the outdoors and trips to the cabin and travelled throughout Canada and the globe. She lived life fully. Darlene’s true gift was her ability to make friends wherever she went. She surrounded those around her with hospitality, warmth, acceptance and love, regardless if you were family, friend or stranger.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14 at Inn at the Forks.

  • Darlene was a wonderful person, always friendly, generous, and calm. We wish her family well at this difficult time. - Posted by: Glen Schmidt (Friend) on: Oct 25, 2023

  • Growing up in Thompson, Darlene and Jack were our neighbors two doors down. I hung around with Colin and Allison, playing games and hanging out. I used to pet sit while they were gone, wash their car (poorly) for money and went out to the lake with them. Darlene always made time for the neighborhood kids, and we were allowed to run wild in and out of their house. She was the nicest lady, a great friend to my parents and always smiling. I was able to see Darlene and Jack at a family funeral several years back, and I was so excited to reconnect. Jack, Colin, Allison and family...I am so sorry for your loss. Darlene was amazing. - Posted by: Caroline Peters (Lanoie) (Neighbour) on: Oct 06, 2023

  • My condolences to Jack and family, my heart goes out to you all through your loss. Darlene was such a lovely lady and her spirit I believe lives on. I hope your memories and her spirit will be with you to help you through these times and lots of Thompsonite friends too. I regret I’ll be away for her memorial and unable to attend. My prayers and thoughts ware with you. Love, Adele - Posted by: Adele Poulin (Thompson years family friend) on: Oct 04, 2023

  • Time has not allowed us to see each other of late. We were best of friends in the 60's and 70's than distance changed that. We offer our condolences to Jack and the Family - Posted by: Lenora and Nicholas Gnida (Friends since 1962) on: Oct 02, 2023
