RON CROFT

1931 - 2023

Ron Croft passed away peacefully on September 28, 2023, in Wawanesa, MB, after surviving cancer and battling dementia. Ron was born October 18, 1931, immigrated from England landing in New York City 5/5/55, eventually settling in Brandon, MB with his first wife Marjorie (Miles) in 1957. Majorie passed in 1984 after 25 years plus of marriage.

Ron remarried and leaves behind his wife of over 30 years, Doris (Heskin) Croft; his son, Brian (Marge) Croft; daughter, Sandra (Aurel) Revet; stepdaughter, Marcy (Roger) Elliott; stepsons, Brian (Jeannette) Severson and Vernon Severson along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren located in Canada and England. He was predeceased by seven brothers and one sister from England and has one living sister, Jean White (Croft) also from England.

Ron was born and raised in Royston, England. Prior to immigrating, he survived bombing through The Second World War, the hardships of working in a coal mine, serving in the English RAF for two years, and living in a 2-bedroom house with eight siblings before moving to Canada to start a new life. Ron worked as packer/mover with Unicume Moving and Storage, F.P.E., and finished his work career with Stores AMO in Shilo before retiring with Doris in Brandon.

They travelled extensively and kept his never-ending curiosity busy, he loved to wander anywhere where he was not supposed to be. He enjoyed gardening, cards, and his families, and will be remembered for his storytelling, calm demeanor and radiant smile.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Brandon Cemetery, 1901 18th Street, Brandon, MB, at 2:00 p.m.

Special thanks to all the nurses, doctors and support staff at Wawanesa PCH for the tremendous care dad received while there.
