Patricia Margaret Tole passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023, at Assiniboine Centre in Brandon, MB at the age of 85 years.
Pat was born December 10, 1937 in Birtle, MB, and grew up on the farm overlooking the Birdtail Valley. She started her education in Colonsay School a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Birtle High School at age 17. Pat then took her teacher training at Provincial Normal School in Winnipeg, and passed on her love of learning by teaching at Pacific School just west of Virden, at Isabella School, and, after her marriage to Ray in 1958, at Greenway School in Winnipeg.
Ray’s work in the bank meant transferring all over southern Manitoba, and as a result Pat stopped teaching and turned her talents to raising her family and to creative endeavours like sewing, knitting, baking, sketching and calligraphy. She was always community-minded and involved in community groups, the church, and choirs. She worked in the library for a time and enjoyed curling and golfing. Pat took every opportunity to connect with family and friends. Gatherings were made special with her creative ideas for games, food and handmade momentos. She and Ray shared a love of the outdoors, camping, traveling, genealogy, music and dancing. Her green thumb was evident in her many house plants, roses and flower gardens.
Pat was a caring, independent person who loved her family, and always had her fun sense of humour at the ready.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Janice (Mark) and Sandi (Mark); grandchildren, Nicole (John) and David (Becca); four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, John Jasper, Cassidy and Tristan; sister, Marilyn; brother, Laurie (Lois), many loving nieces and nephews, and her godchildren. She was predeceased by her lifetime love and best friend, husband Raymond Tole.
A small graveside service will be held at the St. James Church, Solsgirth, MB, on October 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 1K2.

My heartfelt sypmathy for your loss. Pat was such a warm and caring person and someone who seemed always to be smiling and cheerful. We will all miss her. I am sure that up where she is now she and my mum are enjoying more ancestry details. 🙂 I will never forget the love, kindness and help she and Ray gave me and my family on several critical points when my dad was in hospital in Brandon and again when mum had her heart attack and was in Brandon hospital. I also have many fond memories of visiting in Birtle when I was a lot younger. I remember watching her and Ray dancing together and thinking how it seemed they were dancing as one unit, so perfectly in sync they were not just doing the steps but appeared to be controlling that block of space which they occupied. I really feel she lived her life to the fullest every day she could and she had a such very postive affect on those around her. I am very thankful to God for sharing her with us for so many years. Much love and many prayers are sent to you all. - Posted by: Betty Copping (Cousin) on: Oct 09, 2023
