LOUISE MALO
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Louise on October 3, 2023, at the young age of 66 years.
Left to cherish her memory, Louise is survived by her loving husband Louis, and her two- and four-legged family. She also leaves a large group of friends from golf, singing, equestrian, crafting and her pharmacy colleagues. We encourage all attendees to dress appropriate to the activity that Louise knew them from.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Cooks Creek Community Centre, 30026 Zora Road in Cooks Creek. Luncheon to follow.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society.

I accidentally came across Lou's facebook profile and was stunned to see he was widowed. Louise and I worked together for many years at the WPG Human society clinic, and experienced many horse related events together over the years including the Pan Am games. Our sincere heartfelt condolences to Lou and all the family...Louise Really was sone in a million. - Posted by: Bev Rolsky (Friend) on: Jan 15, 2025

So sad to hear of Louise's passing. I knew her well as a child. Our parents were friends and we spent many quality times together with our shared Uncle, Aunt and cousins. I used to spend time at their house mainly hanging around with Charlotte. - Posted by: Beryl Kitchen (family friend and 5th cousin) on: Oct 19, 2023

After I took the time to read our local paper last evening, I was very upset to read Louise’s announcement, especially that I missed her celebration of life. I was a close neighbour and grew up with the Leakes. I have nothing but fond memories of Louise, especially the red velvet cake she made me on my 16th birthday. Years have passed, coincidentally Louise and I both ended up living in Cooks Creek with horses and donkeys. I am sending all my love to the Leake family at this difficult time. - Posted by: Gale Sigurdson (Candy) (Friend and neighbour) on: Oct 13, 2023

For a CITY girl it was remarkable how she became a part of the rural Hazelridge lifestyle. She got along with all the pioneer ladies in the area ...which was not easy to be accepted by the old school diehards. The love she had for animals was enduring and truly heart felt , the donkey may have been a first for Hazelridge. She will be missed and remembered , carry on Lou ! - Posted by: Gord Kozak (Friend of Louise and Lou) on: Oct 12, 2023

So sad to hear about Louise’s passing. I remember her well as I was friends with her sister Janice. Remember spending time at their home on Harbison and at Brereton Lake. Condolences to the family. Sincerely, Kim Wozniak (Guenther). - Posted by: Kim Wozniak (School friend) on: Oct 09, 2023

All good wishes to her husband and family. Always cheerful and ever helpful, Louise will be sadly missed. I knew her mostly as a keen equestrian, a kind and thoughtful pet owner, a hard worker and great neighbour. - Posted by: Geri Sweet (Friend) on: Oct 08, 2023

Went through school with Louise and the entire Leake family were great friends. She definitely had a great love for all animals big or small. We ran into each other a few times over the years and always enjoyed talking about old friends and the great times we all had. Thoughts and prayers to Louie and also the entire family. - Posted by: Keith mcLennan (Friend) on: Oct 07, 2023

Sharon and I met Louise when she and Louis began dating. I worked with Louis for a few years before he became a police officer. We always enjoyed Louise’s cheerful disposition and humour. Our deepest condolences to Louis and all of the family. - Posted by: Gerry Bazin (Past friend) on: Oct 07, 2023

I went to Elmwood High School with Theresa, Janice, Louise & Betty. They were all very nice girls & also very athletic. Louise was a year younger than me but I remember watching her play sports. She was a team player who excelled in anything she was involved in. - Posted by: Sandy Muise (Friend from Elmwood High Schook) on: Oct 07, 2023
