CONNIE EDMUNDS

1928 - 2023

It is with great loss and sadness that we announce the death of Connie Edmunds (nee Halford). She enjoyed an independent life until her final year, and always remained deeply interested in the lives of her family.

Connie was predeceased by her husband Stan, sister Irene (Jack), and daughter-in-law Kathleen (Mark). She will be deeply missed by her children Ross (Lil), Sandra (Brian), Neil (Judy) and Mark, and by her grandchildren Wes, Michelle, Erin, Lesley, Emily, Amy, Hannah, Thomas and Megan. She has four great-grandchildren Madison, Sadie, Charlie and Joey.

Connie grew up in Winnipeg, and married Stan in 1948. They moved to Vancouver in a work transfer by IBM in the 70s. She and Stan made many good friends there. They missed the prairies and being near Connie’s beloved family cottage at Ingolf, so on retirement she and Stan moved back to Winnipeg. All her life Connie spent as much time as possible at the lake gardening, hiking and picking blueberries. She was an avid swimmer, winning many speed trophies as a child, becoming a coach and lifeguard as a young woman, and later taking up synchronized swimming. Connie was a dog lover, and usually had a faithful pet by her side. She was a skilled seamstress and knitter and made most of her own and her children’s clothes. Connie was a passionate reader, feeding her interest in history, geography and current affairs, which she shared with her children. She was an active supporter of the United Church, serving on many boards and committees over the years, teaching Sunday School and leading the girl’s youth group CGIT. She was the family historian who kept us all connected, and above all she was a great listener. She was a much-loved centre for our lives.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Connie was a very good friend of my In-laws Charlie and Edith Ward, and I came to know her through them. She was the centre of the Family and very devoted to her Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She was hard working and a strong supporter of her Lake community. Roy and I enjoyed visiting with her and her many stories of the early years at Ingolf. Rest in Peace Connie Roy and Tanyss Ward - Posted by: Tanyss Ward (Friend of the Family) on: Oct 14, 2023
