JULIA MACDONALD
With family at her side, Julie passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of October 8th at Grace Hospice after a brave fight against cancer.
Julie was predeceased by her husband Al; her brother Steve and sister Margaret; and her daughter-in-law Sharleen. She is survived by her sister Mary; her sons, Shane, Kent (Linda), Troy (Helen), and Kurt (Chantale); eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Julie was active for many years at the Chapel of Good Shepherd, and she served on the Ladies’ Guild there for over 30 years. She was renowned for her skills in crochet and her love of Coca-Cola.
She will be fondly remembered for her love of “going for coffee” and her involvement in the Red Hat Society. Grandma Mac was a fiercely proud grandmother to her grandchildren, and she was generous to a fault, with a heart of gold. Julie also enjoyed reconnecting with friends at the R.C.A.F. Air Women’s Reunion.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. with viewing starting at 1:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CancerCare Manitoba.

To Julie's family and friends: Julie was a trooper of Faith, and my friend. She loved her Lord, and she raised her voice in song for Him. One of her favorites, "Lord of the Dance", tells our Lord's story. I also shared the experience of being an RCAF Airwoman. Julie loved the reunions, held every two years. She had great fun. To Julie, I offered this verse: "Be not afraid, I go before you always, Come follow me, And I will give you rest." My dear friend, be at your eternal rest with your Lord. His spirit envelopes you. Peace be with you. With much love, Christina Barrett. - Posted by: Christina Barrett (Friend) on: Oct 14, 2023
