JOYCE GLORIA WESELAK
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and sister in-law, Joyce Weselak, who passed away at the Beausejour Hospital on Friday, October 6, 2023 at the age of 88 years, with her family by her side.
Joyce was preceded by her husband Edward Thomas in 1994; her parents, Theodore and Anne Bisko; her infant brother Alex Ted; parents-in-law, Edward Joseph and Katherine Weselak; her brothers-in-law, Douglas Weselak and Paul Letwin; sister-in-law Carol Weselak; nephew Darren Letwin and niece Darcie Bisko.
Joyce’s memory will be cherished by her daughter Debbie (Leroy); grandchildren, Chelsey (Danton) and Janelle; great-grandchild Nash; brothers, Robert (Frances) and Gary (Dorothy); sisters-in-law, Audrey Letwin, Eleanor Weselak, and Gladys Weselak; brothers-in-law, Ernie Weselak and Leonard Weselak; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joyce attended school in Sandhill, MB and completed Grade 11 in Beausejour. Mom worked in Winnipeg with Ryan Gateway and enjoyed this job very much. She later married Edward on March 16, 1956. Mom and Dad welcomed a daughter, Debbie and resided in Winnipeg for a couple of years. They moved back to Sandhill and lived there till 1963 when they moved to Beausejour. Mom later worked for Agassiz School Division in the Administration Office for 25 years till her retirement.
Mom loved to plant and work in the garden, bake, preserve food, help Dad on the farm and plant flowers. She was always busy. She loved her grandchildren and was especially proud of her great-grandson, Nash. Her face would “light up” when she saw him. Mom always put everyone’s needs ahead of her own and worked hard at everything she did.
We would like to express our appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Partyka and staff at the Beausejour Hospital for looking after mom.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour with viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in mom’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.

My deepest condolences to the Bisko, Weselak and Flett families. I recall all the good times we spent having Ukranian Christmas dinners together and the big family get-togethers we had when our Aunts, Uncles and cousins came to visit from Winnipeg and/or California. I wish I lived closer and could be there with you at this sad time. Hugs and love to you all. Diane (Semenko) Loader - Posted by: Diane Loader (cousin) on: Oct 14, 2023

The Biskos were neighbours in Sand Hill living 3/4 miles east of our house and the Sand Hill School. Joyce was born the same year as our brother Ted. Our parents visited each other in our close knit Ukrainian community. Our sympathies to Debbie, Garry and Bobby and their families on the loss of Joyce. May all your good memories help you through this sad time. Most sincerely. Bill and Kathy (Krawchuk) Fecio. - Posted by: Kathy & Bill Fecio (Neighbours from Sandhill) on: Oct 14, 2023
