EDNA ELIZABETH HULL
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Edna Hull on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Grace Hospital.
Edna will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her sons, Bruce (Lisa) and Kevin (Shannon); grandchildren, Leah, Sarah and Riley; brother Bill (MaryAnn), brother-in-law Roy Hjorleifson, sister-in-law Doris Tibbs, sister-in-law Lesley Hull, brother-in-law Wes Hull; nieces, nephews as well as many family members and friends.
Edna was predeceased by her loving husband Jim Hull, her parents, Harold and Janet Appleby, her sister Isabel Hjorleifson, sister-in-law Marian McCarthy, brother-in-law Don McCarthy, brother-in-law William Tibbs.
Edna was born and raised in Treherne, Manitoba. As a young woman, Edna moved to Winnipeg to find work. While working at the Grain Exchange, she met the love of her life, Jim Hull. After Edna and Jim married and had their boys, Edna returned to work. She worked at Westwood Safeway for 27 years. Edna loved being actively involved in her children’s lives as they were growing up. This continued as she was actively involved in her grandchildren’s lives. She made many wonderful memories with her family especially during fabulous Thanksgiving dinners at the cottage in Sandy Hook. Edna and Jim loved to travel including winter vacations to Florida and later to British Columbia. After Edna and Jim retired, they moved to Gimli, Manitoba where they lived for many years. Edna enjoyed her time in Gimli volunteering in the community including Kiwanis and New Horizons as well as going to Church and making new friends. Edna had been a seasonal resident of Sandy Hook all of her life with Jim. In 2011, they moved back to Winnipeg. After Jim’s passing, Edna still enjoyed volunteering, spending time with her family and her friends, and making trips to the lake. Edna had a great sense of humour and was easy to get along with. She made and kept friends easily. She enjoyed knitting, completing sudokus, working on puzzles and playing games like dominos. In 2023, Edna moved into Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts and she was very happy there and made many new friends.
Edna’s family would like to thank Dr. Martha Ainslie and nurse Karen as well as Dr. Josef Silha for their excellent care of Edna these past few years.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations can be made to The Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
As per Edna’s wishes, there will not be any formal funeral.
Edna was a bright light in our family and will always be remembered and loved.

I was saddened to hear the news of Edna's passing from my Mother. I always thought Edna was so cute! She was a very nice lady, her and Jim. One of my favourite church people from my childhood! I remember we chatted, but I can't remember what we chatted about because it was so long ago. It was so lovely when our church family was so big back in the 90s and early 2000s. My deepest condolences. - Posted by: Leanne Eyford (Member of Wpg.Beach United Church) on: Dec 24, 2023

Just a note about how great full I am to have know Edna and Jim. I was lucky to have friends in Bruce and Kevin growing up around them all. Even after I moved to British Columbia, I’d call Edna and Jim and have some memorable chats. Edna always made me laugh. We would recollect times from the past and she always added something I’d forgotten in a story. She would then pass the phone to Jim. He was always keen to know what was going on with me. What a family. I’m fortunate to have so many memories of Edna, Jim, Hupp and Pudd. Nicknames growing up for Bruce and Kevin. - Posted by: Bruce Anderson (Friend of family) on: Oct 18, 2023
