Peacefully, but with heavy hearts and family by her side, Elfriede passed away at the age of 86 years on Sunday October 15, 2023.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Gerhard; her daughter Angela (Gerry); son Robert (Ardith); four grandchildren, Chantel, Alyssa, Andrea and David; seven great-grandchildren, Kallie, Elia, Joseph, Silas, Trinity, Sophia and Zoe and brother Ernie Schade (Irene).
We would like to thank the emergency staff at St. Boniface Hospital and the Acute Cardiac Care Unit for their compassion and amazing care during this time.
A funeral church service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday October 23, 2023, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 65 Walnut Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elfriede’s memory to the Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba or St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

So sad to hear of Freda's passing. Our condolences go out to Jerry , Rob and Angela . We ve known Freda and Jerry for many years , our businesses grew up together , being across the street from one another. Freda was a warm and loving woman that always had such kind things to say . All of the staff at Luigis Restaurant and Catering give our warmest condolences to the entire family. Thank you for being my good friend at Exercise Class for many years. We had great laughs while exercising. I wonder if anyone will be able to beat our ballon passing record of 72 passes without letting it drop on the floor. Our heartfelt condolences to the Hammerling family and loved ones. So sorry to hear that Elfriede recently passed away. We have many fond memories of St Peter's especially singing in the choir along with Gerhard & Elfriede. We will always remember her beautiful smile and friendly manner. My dearest of friends, I'm so ever grateful that you were in my life. Every Tuesday Freda had the most wellness about her . Her presence of friendship and laughter, and of course her special hugs. Freda your smile light up a room. You were infectious with encouragement. Telling everyone what a great job we were all doing. Freda loved our Christmas exchange parties and of course our Christmas party dinners. Freida you were so thoughtful, considerate person I know. You always looked forward to your special lunches with Angela. Leaving Tuesday to eat without you, missing out a story you would tell . Freda would have us in stitches, as quit as she was her stories never always left us in higher spirits. Freida your presence may be gone , hugs no longer felt , your memory of you will be happy one.
