HELEN ESTHER TROJANOWSKI
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Esther Trojanowski. Helen died peacefully on October 23, 2023, at the age of 89, at East Gate Personal Care Home in Beausejour, Manitoba.
She was predeceased by her parents, John “Jack” and Hannah Panno; her first husband Walter; her brother Harold; and her second husband Julian.
Helen will be remembered by her sons, Raymond, Gordon (Regina), and Leonard (Elena); grandsons, Forrest and Stanley; stepchildren, Judy, John, Paul, and Dave, Bruce (Peggy), Sharon and Billy; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and nieces.
Helen was born in Scott, Saskatchewan on July 23, 1934. She grew up and went to school in rural Saskatchewan. Helen was a good student (especially in math), and enjoyed playing many sports, but her favourite was baseball.
She moved to Winnipeg in her 20s where she met Walter Peterson. Walter and Helen were married in 1964. Walter had four children from a previous marriage, which were followed by three more boys together. The family enjoyed many summers at their cabins in Gull Lake. Walter and Helen were planning to retire there, when sadly Walter passed away in 1979. After his passing the family moved to Gull Lake in 1981. Helen worked at the Western Canada Lottery Corp until her retirement in 1996.
Helen met Julian Trojanowski in 1985. Helen and Julian were married in 1987 and had 30 great years together. Julian became a stepfather to her three boys, and Helen’s family became even larger with the addition of his three children and grandchildren. They enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing crib, going to hockey and baseball games, bowling, golfing, fishing, travelling and time with family. Julian passed away in 2014.
Helen spent her final years at East Gate Care Home in Beausejour. We’d like to thank all the staff at East Gate that took such truly great care of her through this time.
Following cremation, a private family service will be held in Gull Lake, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society Manitoba, or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Knew Helen since I was five. She had a lot to do with who I am today and for that I say thank you. Lots of memories and stories could be told, but this format does not allow for that. R.I.P. Helen “you were alright”. - Posted by: Dave Peterson (Stepson) on: Nov 01, 2023

My Auntie Helen was one of the women that I looked up to from the time I was a little girl. She was extremely calm and enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer. She loved sports, and was an amazing softball player. I considered myself so lucky to have spent part of my summer holidays for many years hanging out at the lake with her, Ray, Gord and Len. My Dad (Harold, Helen’s only sibling) paid me the highest compliment when he once told me “you are so much like your aunt, main difference is that you bat right, and she bats left”. A very proud moment in my life. Ray, Gord & Len, thank you for sharing your Mom with me when I visited in the summer….she was an amazing lady - Posted by: Connie Panno (Niece) on: Oct 31, 2023

My deepest sympathy at the lose of your mother. I enjoyed visiting with Julian and Helen. Especially when they hosted the Trojanoski family reunion at their place in Gull Lake. I also enjoyed spending time with Bonzo when I went out to Gull Lake and no one was home. Helen lit up Uncle Julian's life. Was a great addition to our already big family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Gail Gering (nee Trojanoski) - Posted by: Gail Gering (Niece) on: Oct 28, 2023

My deepest condolences to all of the family on the loss of your loved one. Helen was a remarkable woman and will be dearly missed. I have so many fond memories of Helen and Julian coming to Bird River to visit Gary and I, or to help with any project we had going on. We had many crib games together and Helen was always my partner. Rest in peace, Helen. - Posted by: Lenore Diduch (Neice) on: Oct 28, 2023
