Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONNA MARILYN DREWETT
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our mother – Donna Marilyn Drewett (nee Laird) on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Hazel D. Smith and Everett E. Laird of New Brunswick, her husband Douglas K. Drewett from Winnipeg and brother Dennis R. Laird from Belleville, Ontario.
She is survived and missed by her daughters, Linda (Ross) of Brantford, Ontario, Carolyn "Ashleigh" (Glen) of Winnipeg and grandson Andrew Morris. Donna is also survived by siblings, Lee (Barb), Sandra, Wayne (Marie), Brenda, Dianne, and Randy along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
She was born and raised in Moncton, NB., the second of eight children to Hazel and Everett Laird. She was very fond of her home province and had many pleasant memories to share about the East Coast. It is there that she met her future husband, Douglas. Eventually, Donna, Douglas and their first daughter Linda, would move to Winnipeg to settle and raise their family.
After a few years, our mother decided to attend university. She studied and later graduated from the University of Winnipeg, all the while raising two daughters and maintaining a household. Her studies led her to work for the former Women’s shelter - Osborne House. It was a shelter for women and children who had been victims of domestic violence. Today, it has been renamed "Willow Place." Donna worked as a counsellor in the shelter for most of her career. She was well-liked and respected by both colleagues and clients.
And in the last few years, she has resided at Extendicare Tuxedo Villa. There she has received excellent care. We want to thank all of the staff at the Villa for their kindness, hard work, support and for doing the work that they do. We can’t thank you enough.
As per Donna’s wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place.
If anyone wishes to make a donation to honour Donna’s memory, please consider Willow Place.

I worked with Donna for about 5 years, in the early 2000's at Osborne House. She was a no nonsense, strong, professional hard working woman, kind, warm, friendly and always had a calm demeanor. When I met her she had short hair and glasses and resembled my Mom and when I told her she reminded me of her, she smiled and quietly said "how nice". I am so sorry to hear of her passing. - Posted by: Mendy Wolchock Moroz (Former coworker) on: Nov 28, 2023

Offering my sincere condolences to all family after hearing of Donna's passing. I reflect on the wonderful memories I have of "Aunt" Donna and the energy she shared during her visits that I loved dearly. As a young child, I remember clearly her smile, her energy and her spirit, a person who imparted in me the awe and wonder to seize the world and all of its wonder. She touched many lives along her journey including mine and will be missed but not forgotten. Love and light ❤️ - Posted by: Christine Shiels (niece) on: Nov 04, 2023
