DIANNE MCREDMOND

August 31, 1946 – October 25, 2023

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Dianne McRedmond on October 25, 2023 at the Health Sciences Centre. Dianne was born on August 31, 1946 and was raised in Gladstone, Manitoba.
She is survived and loved by her husband of 53 years, Tony; her four children, Don (Brenda) Daunica (Greg), Dean and Tony Jr. (Kara); grandchildren, Tiana (Marcelo), Chelsey, Justin (Grace), Megan, Jesse, Liberty, Alex and Gabby; and great grandchildren, Mikennah, Waylon, Hudson, Rowan, River and Gavin.
Dianne was a beautiful, great fun, caring and loving person who loved music, especially Elvis. For many years Tony and Dianne would pack the kids in the car and drive to Memphis for the annual visit to Graceland. She also loved to sing and with enough encouragement you could get her to sing “Me and Bobby McGee” (Janis Joplin style). She loved cooking for her family gatherings and when her grandchildren came along, Christmas was a 3-day event because nobody went home. Tony and Dianne started their business (Crossroads Insurance) in the basement of their home. With no prior experience, Dianne became the bookkeeper and everything had to balance to the penny. She became the office manager/receptionist and even with four children she kept the house spotless in case a customer happened to come along. She must have done well as in 2022, the business celebrated it’s 50th anniversary.
Dianne was devoted to the Blessed Virgin and she had medals, prayer cards, holy water fonts, and candles. She had a statue of the Blessed Virgin in her garden which she took inside for the winter, so she would be warm. She golfed for many years at Pine Ridge and then later at Niakwa golf course. In 1989 she won the Colleen Hutchinson Tournament which was played for a period of four days at four different courses. She also had a hole-in-one during her golfing career. When not golfing or babysitting, she was an avid reader and did the crossword puzzle and the Jumble every morning.
Dianne could be opinionated, was not shy about letting you know exactly how she felt about things, but always finished with still being friends. Most of all she treasured her family and her love was beyond measure, always putting everyone before herself. She sent regular bulletins to us about incoming storms, or coyote sightings in your neighbourhood. When travelling, even a short distance, we had to notify her that we arrived safely. She was a loving, supportive and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend who worried about everyone. She was one of a kind, she was herself, she was great and we will miss her terribly.
Dianne’s Memorial Service will take place on November 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • So sorry for your loss. Dianne was always so good to me growing up. Always with a smile and a hug and asking me how I was doing. She was a tough nut but fair. She always made sure we had food to eat and let us stay in the family basement for hours on end. She will be missed by us all. God bless Mrs. McRedmond you will be missed. • Dear Tony and Family, As anyone who knew Dianne knows she was always fun to be around. My Dad Larry, Dianne's cousin, had many great memories of staying at Aunt Ella's house when he left Gladstone where he was raised and went to Winnipeg. Aunt Ella and Dianne always welcomed him into their home which he was always grateful for. When my Dad passed away June 28, 2021, I called Tony and Dianne. After Dianne gave their condolences to my Mum, Helen, and my family, she told me some of the same stories Dad told us. While Dianne is not physically with your Family she will forever remain in your daily thoughts of how much she meant to each of you and all the memories that were made with her. • I golfed with Dianne at Niakwa, reading her tribute, I didn’t get to know her well enough. I would love to have heard her sing Bobby McGee. What I recall was when I was troubled about something, she insisted I come to her place for tea, which I did, she listened carefully and was hugely supportive. My sincere condolences to all her family..one of the “good ones” has left the building Janne - Posted by: Janne (Golf friend) on: Oct 28, 2023

  • Gramma was just as much a grandmother to me as she was her own granddaughter Tiana, my very dear friend. Pa hired me to be part of the team at Crossroads a couple years after I graduated high school so my relationship with Gramma only grew from there. I was officially a member of the McRedmond family. I was the recipient of many cut news articles and lectures on what Tiana and I should and shouldn’t be doing (all with love as the intention), many lunches at the house on Pelham, and rides in all her big beautiful cars over the years- anywhere Tiana or I needed to go, Gramma was there to take us. Diane was fierce, in the most amazing ways, especially since she loved so hard. You did not mess with her. She instilled those qualities in Tiana as well, without a shadow of a doubt- one of the most amazing characteristics that will live on forever through her granddaughter, and great grandkids I am sure. As I sit here writing this I am flooded with many memories from over the years and all the time I was lucky enough to spend with Gramma. My heart is shattered for the entire McRedmond crew but especially my dear Pa and Tiana. Love and hugs. Reanne - Posted by: Reanne Wusaty-Phillips (Family friend ) on: Oct 28, 2023

  • Dianne and Tony have been close friends of Ken and me for over 30 years Dianne has been a great friend to me. Always sharing her advice, and opinion, whether I asked for it or not. But it was always appreciated. She was the first person to come to the hospital to meet our son Linden, and her heart has always held a special place for him, even though it was already full with the love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We met at Pine Ridge and have many great memories that included a lot of laughter and love. They first came on a golf trip to Minneapolis, although they did not know too many of us. Tony and Dianne do like to have fun, so they jumped in. After a few days Dianne asked if there was anytime in the agenda to eat since we were golfing and drinking. We made a stop in Brainard, where we all stayed at Faucet house. You know Dianne she believed in spirits and I don’t mean the drinking kind. She believed her TV glowed at night and would not shut off, the water trickling down the fireplace was a sign, but the best part was dealing with the bird in the great room. I can still see Dianne crawling on the floor with her pink shorts on, butt in the air, trying to avoid the bird. Our dinner group of Dianne/Tony, Bob and Kathy Ramsay, Dave and Judy Puhach and us had great times together. Sadly Dianne has joined Bob, Dave and Judy to have a new group in heaven. Cheers my friend we will miss your hamburger hash, and great chats. I am honour to have been in your circle of friends for so long. We love you. - Posted by: Allayne Porco (Good friend) on: Oct 28, 2023
