CHERYL NIELSEN
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Cheryl Nielsen, aged 72.
She leaves behind her loving husband Edward, daughter Shannon (Ian), sisters, Randy and Kim (Rod), nephew Jason (Julia), niece Candace (Jody), great-grandnephew Nolan (Aron), Ethan, great-grandniece Brooklyn and great-great-grandnephew Connor.
She was predeceased by her parents, Marg and Dick Klassen, and brother-in-law Wolfgang.
She will be remembered for her love of family and her cats. She had a fierce fight and determination against the many health issues that unfairly burdened her for many years. She was such a fighter and the strongest person we knew.
The Nielsen family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the dialysis unit and palliative care team at Selkirk Regional Hospital for the care she received.
A private service will be held for the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in her honour.

What a shock to see that Cheryl has passed. I worked with Cheryl for several years, and just a month or so ago I tried to find her to call and chat with her and was unsuccessful. Cheryl is one of those people that you do not forget, for all the right reasons. She was a wonderful, bright and intelligent employee, always ready to help and so much fun to be around - in large part accompanied by her ready wit. It has been so many years since I saw her, and I often wondered how she was doing with her struggles with her health. And I will never forget that she came to my birthday party laden down with homemade preserves and goodies from her own hands. There is a special place in the afterlife reserved for someone like Cheryl, and she deserves one of the best spots available. Ed and family, my condolences to you and may you find peace in the memories you have of Cheryl. I'm sure there must be many. And may God Bless you all. - Posted by: Herman de Vries (Friend) on: Nov 04, 2023
