It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Arnold "Bill" Sedo on October 24, 2023, at his home in Transcona.
Bill was born on June 25, 1956, and raised in Springfield, MB. Those rural roots were always close to his heart. Throughout his school days, he participated in a number of sports which included volleyball, baseball, and broomball. He also had a love for basketball and was always ready for a match. Following high school, Bill went on to study at the University of Manitoba, from which he earned a Masters in Social Work in 1993. After graduating, Bill began his career with Probation Services for the Province of Manitoba. Throughout his career, Bill held a number of positions, and his core goal was to make a meaningful change in the criminal justice system. Two specific projects included introducing client risk assessments and reducing auto thefts in Winnipeg by 83%. His efforts were recognized when he was awarded the Exemplary Service Medal Award in recognition of his work accomplishments.
Those who knew Bill were always met with his unwavering work ethic, his sharp wit, and his memorable sense of humour. He invested countless hours into working on his dream home in Springfield, MB, and restoring his beloved 66’ Ford Mustang. Bill continued to have many interests and hobbies as an adult. He continued to play Senior baseball, as the coach for the Springfield Braves. There were countless softball tournaments on the weekends, and eventually, he moved to fastball in the Provincial Fastball League. Bill also enjoyed curling at the Granite Curling Club, among many others, which also included countless MCA Banquets and the Annual Bemidji Bonspiel. Bill's other activities included golf, fishing, hunting, yard work, and making homemade wine, which he happily shared during his famous annual pig roasts. Later in life, Bill continued to be active in sports and enjoyed watching the Winnipeg Jets, Goldeyes, and Blue Bombers.
William is survived by his son, Brendon Sedo (Kennia); daughter, Renée Sedo (Paul); cherished mother, Lucy Sedo; sister, Judy Sedo; sister, Sharon Ballegeer (David); and brother, Don Sedo.
A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Bill on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #90, 762 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg. Friends and family are welcome to attend and express their condolences.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to First Steps Wellness Centre in Bill's memory.

My condolences to the Sedo family especially Brendon and Renee. When we were younger we used to have a lot of good time together. Getting older we started going our separate ways but there was always a birthday or Christmas. Bill you will be missed but you are at peace now after the last few years of hardship. - Posted by: Barry Leiman (Cousin) on: Nov 04, 2023
