It is with the deepest regret that we must announce the passing of Vicky Lynn Deprez on Sunday, October 29, 2023 with her family by her side.
Vicky was born in Brandon, MB on April 22, 1952 as the middle child of George and Nancy Harrowen. She attended Earl Oxford and Vincent Massey High School. Vicky dabbled in a lot of activities - who could forget her time as a cheerleader! Her summers growing up were spent with her sisters and parents at Clear Lake where she worked at the local trading post, hung out with her group of friends and loved to roller skate and attend the Saturday night dances. After high school graduation in 1970, Vicky moved to Winnipeg where she graduated as a Registered Nurse from Grace Hospital. She went on to work a variety of nursing positions; at the HSC, Childrens Hospital NICU, Northern Rehabilition and Home care.
On a trip to Hawaii in February of 1975, she met her future husband Doug at Shipwreck Kelly's. As it turned out, they only lived twenty miles apart back home and, after a whirlwind courtship, they were married on October 25, that same year. Vicky and Doug travelled a lot together to Costa Rica, New York, Mexico, and Dominican and made so many happy memories together. They purchased their winter home in Florida in 2011, where they spent 11 years as snowbirds and met so many wonderful people.
Vicky was dedicated to and defined by her family. In 1979, they welcomed their son, Ryan and in 1985, welcomed their daughter, Jenna. When the kids were younger, they went on many family camping trips, vacations, and road trips throughout Canada and the USA and always enjoyed planning birthday parties and pool parties for the kids. As the kids got older, she spent her free time singing with the local Quarry Choristers for many years, performing and singing ever so beautifully as a soprano. She loved spending her time with friends going for lunch or dinner, shopping, or at the local slot machines we called the "office".
Her grandchildren were her world. She loved picking them up and taking them for special treats. Buying them all their favorite things and making sure they never went without. You could always find her cheering the boys on at a hockey game and baseball game or the girls at dance class and gymnastics. She was their biggest fan!
Vicky was predeceased by her parents, Nancy and George Harrowen; sister Marsha Giles, and recently her beloved husband, Doug Deprez. Vicky is survived by her son Ryan, daughter-in-law Lisa; daughter Jenna (Jared). Her beloved grandchildren; Natasha, Trent, Jase, Linnea, Brayden and Mikenna and Sister, Donna Harrowen. Niece, Mellissa Sinclair (Scott), Jaxton and Calla, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Rod (Sheryle); Don (Laurie); Laurie (Arlene); David (Debbie); Leanne (Doug) and Lindy McEachern; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral Service is planned for Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Stony Mountain Community Centre, Stony Mountain. Interment will follow at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at the HSC emergency and MICU for providing her the best care she desperately needed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stony Mountain.

Jenna, So sorry to hear about your mom's passing. My favorite memories are being invited to your parents home for swimming play dates in the summer when you and Candice were just little. You and Candice always had so much fun. Your mom was always such a gracious host. May your mom rest in peace. - Posted by: Katherine Olynyk (Friend) on: Nov 04, 2023

My deepest thoughts are with Vicki's family at this time. I trained with Vicki at the Grace and she was always the center of everything we did. Seeing her at our 5 year reunions was always great. We missed her at our last reunion due to her fall. We were shocked to learn of her passing. Remember the good times as I know there are many. - Posted by: Jean Jack (Friend from Nurses training) on: Nov 04, 2023

Our favorite memories are from our camping days many years ago. From bathing Ryan in our camper to Vicki running to the camp fire when FORTY BELOW was played on Charlie's music box. R.I.P. Good friend until we meet again. xoxoxo - Posted by: RUSS & LYNN LINKLATER (FRIENDS) on: Nov 04, 2023
