STANLEY MICHAEL CHAYE

1939 - 2023

Peacefully on November 10, 2023, at the Selkirk Hospital, Stanley Chaye passed away at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his daughters, Lori (Jeff) Hagman, Sherri Fawcett, son Randy Chaye, four grandchildren, Morgan (Travis) Chaye, Rachel (Rowan) Chaye, Jared (Jayde) Fawcett, and Taylor (Mitch) Fawcett. Stan is also survived by the anticipation of his first cherished great-grandchild, a precious soul yet to be born, who will undoubtedly inherit the legacy of love, wisdom and kindness that Stan so generously shared with this world. Additionally, he is remembered by his sister Helen Kuczek, sisters-in-law, Frances (Dennis) Danko, Verna and Conny Kancylarski, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stan was predeceased by his beautiful wife Margaret; parents, Mike and Julia Chiye; sisters, Evelyn Bucar and Jean Marek; nephews, Duane Kolbuch, Kurt and Clint Danko and niece Judy Marek.

Stan grew up on the family farm in Brokenhead, cultivating a deep connection with the land from an early age. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Margaret, and together they built their family home in Lockport, where they raised their three children.

Music was an important part of Stan’s life, and he taught himself to play the drums at a young age. His passion for music led him on countless occasions, playing for many years. His stories were a testament to the joy and fulfillment he found in sharing his musical talents.

Coming from a farming family instilled in him a profound understanding of the value of hard work and perseverance, qualities that guided him into successfully opening his own businesses, C/C Power Transmission, and SMC Holdings. He often shared stories about customers that became his lifelong friends.

Above all else, Stan loved being with his family and friends. Known to pop in for a few minutes, always with a treat in hand, his love and generosity left a big mark on everyone he knew. As a father, he consistently supported his children to ensure that their dreams became a reality. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Stan’s legacy will live on through the memories he created, the music he shared, and the endeavours he took.

Rest easy, dear Dad, we find comfort knowing that you have been reunited with Mom, dancing once more to the timeless melody of the old-time waltz. She was always on your mind and you spoke of her often. Your memory will forever dance in our hearts.

Pallbearers will be Jared Fawcett, Rachel Chaye, Taylor Fawcett, Travis Riege, Peter Baxter, Jeff Marek and honorary pallbearers Morgan Chaye, Rowan Parent and Jayde Wickett.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church in Selkirk, Manitoba. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed with the link available at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • Stan really had a heart of gold. He always enjoyed being with people and didn’t hesitate to give a helping hand if he knew you or not. Music was always in the air when Stan was around. He would either be tapping on a surface, humming a tune, starts singing and then stops or jingling coins in his pocket (probably trying to make music with them ) . We are so blessed that he left us with so many cherished memories and he will surely be missed .
