JOHN FINKEN
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Finken, our dear father, grandfather, nephew, cousin and friend on a calm, sunny morning on November 12, 2023.
He is survived by his daughters Mélanie (Trevor) and Isabelle (Jeff) as well as grandchildren Corey and Emma. He is predeceased by his parents Armin and Gisela.
Dad was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed working for MB Hydro, drafting, framing, architecture and eventually at U of M in the engineering department for many years.
He was passionate about his countless hobbies and projects especially his model railroad design which stemmed from growing up next to a train track in Austria. Dad was happiest when he was in the Rockies, camping and hiking. He travelled extensively especially to visit family and friends in Wisconsin, Austria, Germany, Colorado and Australia.
We wish to thank his Home Care nurses, Cancer Care and the St. B. Palliative Care team.
Donations to the CancerCare Foundation can be made in his memory.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20,2023,3 at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery.

I enjoyed working with John at the U of M. He was a good man and very young at heart. I thought he was 10 years younger at the time. - Posted by: Roy Hartle (co-worker) on: Nov 19, 2023
