Dear Cindy. My sincerest condolences to you and the family for your loss. My friendship with Ian started 33 years ago when he took a leap of faith and hired me, with no previous experience, as a salesman at Ruth Computer Systems. I had no knowledge in the tech industry whatsoever. He taught me the fundamentals of sales (he was a master), how computer hardware functioned, and the principles of accounting, as the vertical market was in Point of Sale software and hardware. With a glowing reference from Ian, I was able to get hired in sales professional at a custom manufacturer. With his belief in me, I had a successful career for the next 30 years, supporting my family and saving for retirement. He taught me to believe in myself, and for that I am eternally grateful. I am forever in his debt. Thank you Ian. Brad Enns - Posted by: Brad Enns (Friend) on: Dec 05, 2023

We lived on the same street in Kirkfield Park on Vimy Road & I was Ian's parent's paper boy. Ian helped me in my early years building steel guitars and we enjoyed many cups of coffee & goodies together. I appreciated him very much as a friend. Memory is a gift of God that death cannot destroy, so let your hearts with Jesus rest. My condolences to the Ruth family. Due to my illness, I regret not being able to attend. My sincere condolences to Cindy and Ian's family. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Ian's passing, which was far too soon. I got to know Ian from working at MPI and appreciated how supportive he was. He had a great personality. My thoughts and prayers are with the Ruth family at this difficult time! My deepest condolences to Cindy and all of Ian's cherished family and friends. I first met Ian when we worked at MPI. One of his roles in the IT department at that time was to install and fix bugs/issues with a new telephone system. I jokingly gave him the moniker, Dr. Ruth, telephone doctor, because he could quickly remedy any problem. Ian had a great sense of humor and a light-hearted manner that belied a serious side and a huge, caring heart. He adored Cindy, his children, and loved life. I am so sorry he had to leave so soon. I will remember him always and with fondness. - Posted by: Lorna Smith (Former co-worker) on: Nov 18, 2023
