RICHARD MARK CLOSSON

1944 - 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother Richard on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the age of 79.
Richard was predeceased by his wife Agnes (nee Paquette), his parents, Leslie and Cecile (nee Hebert), and nephew Shawn.
He leaves to mourn his siblings: Shirley (Bob Ewonchuk), Claudette (Jim Dewart), Ronald, Glen and Noelle. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews: Stacey and Ryan; Michael, Darrell and Steven; Shannon (Kieron) and great-nephews/niece: Victor, Ryder, Maela, Maddox, Nixon, Keeghan and Lukas.
Richard grew up in the hamlet of Dufrost, along with his younger siblings. After graduating from high school (College St. Joseph), Richard worked on road construction crews for several years. He returned to school to become a Journeyman Electrician and worked in the commercial industry until his retirement, in the early 2000s.
Richard married the love of his life, Agnes in 1968 and for the next 20 plus years, they enjoyed camping, cards, dancing, demolition derbies and trips to the USA, Mexico and Venezuela. Our brother was also passionate about his fishing, hunting and spending weekends on his property near Carrick. He also loved reading, watching sports on TV and country music.
We would like to thank the staff of the Repos Jolys Personal Care Home, for the compassionate care they provided Richard during his stay there, over the past four and a half years.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Malo Catholic Church, St. Malo, MB officiated by Father Paul Nguyen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society at https://alzheimer.mb.ca/you-can-help/donate or to the DeSalaberry Health Foundation.

  • Our sincere condolences to the Closson family in the loss of your brother and uncle. We have heart felt fond memories of Richard and Agnes. The fun filled times of our get togethers playing cards, Christmas, New Year’s, Birthday celebrations, camping in St. Malo and hunting were always filled with laughter and great times. Richard was always willing to lend a hand when ever needed. We find comfort in knowing that Richard is no longer suffering and that he’s with Agnes and their dog Lucky in Heaven.
