Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARRIE ROBERT DRYSDALE
In loving memory of Barrie Robert Drysdale, who peacefully passed away on November 25, 2023, at the age of 84. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived.
Barrie will be deeply missed by his devoted partner and wife of 62 years, Lorna; his son Robert (Nancy); daughters, Shannon (Joe) and Tannis (Owen); and grandchildren, Brandon, Alice (Megan), Ian, Dylan, and Belynda. His sister Darla (Bob); and extended family will also cherish his memory.
He was predeceased by his infant son Cameron Neil.
Born on June 24, 1939, Barrie spent his youth on a farm in the Roseland community southwest of Brandon. In his younger years, he was passionate about various sports, and as a teenager, he developed a love for curling enjoying participating in many bonspiels.
Barrie's life took a beautiful turn when he met Lorna Donnelly while working in Gladstone, leading to their union in December 1961. Together, they shared 62 years of love, commitment, and countless cherished moments.
A true outdoorsman, Barrie found joy in hunting and fishing adventures with friends. His talents extended to carpentry and building, evident in the homes he constructed or renovated for his family.
Barrie dedicated 40 years of his life to the Department of Highways, starting as a Survey Assistant, progressing to construction project management, and finally being promoted to a position in Winnipeg where he helped facilitate the transition from manual drafting to CAD design for road construction.
Upon retirement, Barrie and Lorna settled in Arnes, Manitoba, relishing 25 years in the embrace of the local community on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. Barrie loved having fun and being with family and friends, spending his evenings hosting parties filled with laughter and stories of his escapades that continued well into his 80s.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Barrie's memory.
A celebration of Barrie's life will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, November 30.

Saddened to learn of the passing of yet another of the Highways old guard. Barrie's PATIENCE as he (and Ken) dragged the rest of us, the two fingered typing, pick and scaling old dogs, into the 21st century CAD roadway design was amazing!
