Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLARRY K. TAPLIN
Dad (Larry) passed away on November 24, 2023, at Poseidon Long-Term Care Home.
Dad was born August 8, 1940, to James and Lily Taplin. Dad is survived by ex-wife Gerrie, son Bradley (daughter-in-law Tara), and daughter Alina. Dad was predeceased by his parents and only brother Jim.
After completing his high school education at Tec Voc High, dad worked at Selkirk General Hospital and Fort Osborne Barracks before becoming a boiler inspector with the provincial government. This employment continued until retirement and left him with some lasting friendships. Since retirement, dad spent the majority of his time researching his ancestry, which seemed to bring a lot of enjoyment especially when he was able to connect with some distant cousins.
Dad lived the last six years in Cathedrale Manor assisted living facility where he was able to make some close friendships. Special thanks to Rhonda and all the staff for the care given to dad, it is very much appreciated. Special thanks as well to the staff of Poseidon Third Floor.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery (4477 Main Street, West St. Paul). Dad did not want a formal service, however, the family invites you to come pay your respects, and remember dad, during a come-and-go luncheon to be held at Glen Eden on Tuesday December 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.

I only have been in the complex since February 1st, 2023. Your Dad went out of his way to be early at the dining room and greet residents as they arrived as well as every Thursday he'd go early to the main floor to get extra copies of the week menu for residents that had difficulty walking. He had the best smile, loved to tease the residents, and enjoyed trying to stump the French residents with obscure English phrases and test their ability to translate to French. We had an ongoing joke that when he managed to stump them, I'd always look up on my phone so he could continue the joke the next day. He will definitely be missed and has been a regular start of many meal conversations trying to hear how he was doing.
