MARIE CECILE ANGELE DUFAULT REYKDAL

June 1961 - November 2023

With great sadness and love we announce the passing of Marie Cécile Angèle Dufault Reykdal on November 26, 2023.
Cécile was born to Roland and Cécile Dufault in St. Boniface, Manitoba on June 26, 1961. She was raised in St. Boniface and attended école Précieux Sang, then Collège Universitaire de St. Boniface to complete her primary schooling. She met and married Stephan Reykdal in 1992. They had two children together, Nickolas and Lynne. She primarily worked at the St. Boniface Hospital, then later in life she worked as a special needs educational assistant at école Taché.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children, Nickolas (wife Jennifer) and Lynne, her mother Cécile, her brother Denis, her sister Michelle, her long-time companion Gerry and step-grandchildren, Alex and Ryan, her former husband Stephan, and many friends and relatives.

In recent years she maintained an incredibly loving relationship with her companion Gerry, earning the joint nickname “those 2 !”.

Strong but gentle, deeply caring and incredibly positive and passionate, Cécile loved cats and enjoyed to listen, sing and dance to traditional francophone and Blues music (especially live!). She loved the outdoors, chatting around a campfire, camping, fishing, and paddling with La Brigade de la Rivière Rouge.

With her well earned character trait of being strong and persistent, she fought (and most often prevailed!) cancer for over 20 years but was finally overcome this year, and passed at the Riverview Health Centre. Thanks to the staff for making her last days as comfortable as possible.

Many thanks to CancerCare at St. Boniface Hospital, and especially to Dr. Grenier, for treating Cécile so well for so long. Donations to CancerCare Manitoba or Riverview Health Centre would be greatly appreciated.

Cécile requested no formal funeral be held. A celebration of her life will be planned for close family at a later date in the Spring.
