Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD (RON) JOHN KOMONKO
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) John Komonko, at the age of 82. With family by his side, Ron passed on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
Ron was born in Meleb, Manitoba, on July 3, 1941. He was predeceased by his father Michael, and mother Jean; sister Lucille; and other extended family members.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Darlene; sons Perry (Tracy and daughter Jennifer), Darrell (Marek), and Brian (Barry); along with his brother Wally (Mary); and many close family and friends.
Ron attended the Manitoba Technical Institute, obtaining a culinary arts diploma. He started his career working as a chef at the St. Boniface Hospital. He later transitioned to work with The Correctional Service of Canada at Stony Mountain Institution from where he retired in 1999 after 32 years of service.
After he retired, Ron kept busy working for Piston Ring Automotive, maintaining his beautiful yard and garden with Darlene, and traveling to many far-flung destinations.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff in the emergency department along with Josie, Janine, and the rest of the team on the surgical ward who provided exceptional care. We would also like to thank the nurses from the Selkirk Community Health Office for all of their assistance over the past two years.
A Celebration of Life, to be led by Rev. Vasyl’ Hoi, will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West Saint Paul, Manitoba, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada, or a charity of your choice.
