Laurent Himbeault passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023 at the age of 98.
Laurent is survived by his children René, Raymond (Kathy), Donald (Gisèle) and Dianne, his grandchildren Danielle, Éric (Lauren), Alain, Dylan (Mara), Jackson and Gibson as well as her great-grandchildren Evan and Alison. He also leaves to mourn his many in-laws from the Nadeau family, Thérèse, Gualbert (Rita), Denis (Éliane), Antonin, Emma (Maurice Gaudet) as well as his sister-in-law Adeline and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years Clémence (nee Nadeau), his parents George and Yvonne (nee Tallard) as well as his brother John and sisters Flora (Laurent LaLiberté) and Martha.
Dad was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and moved with his family to San Clara, Manitoba where he grew up, working the family farm and learning to tinker with carpentry, auto-mechanics, and the early days of radio. After meeting Clémence, the local teacher, they were married on August 12, 1953. Shortly after beginning their married life in San Clara they moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family. Dad expanded his tinkering to television and appliances and worked for many years as a repairman. During their retirement Mom and Dad also traveled extensively, road trips throughout the United States and Canada as well as overseas trips, including a visit to the Holy Land and the Vatican. Dad was always a devoted family man, especially as he cared for Mom in her later years.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Desjardins Funeral Home.
