It is with heavy hearts that the family of Guy Dandenault announce his sudden passing at his residence on December 6, 2023 at the age of 61.
Born on February 25, 1962 in St. Boniface, Manitoba, he was the son of the late Alice (nee Pinsonneault) and the late Gilbert (Peewee) Dandenault.
Left to mourn are his two sisters, Michelle from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Brigitte (Richard LaPierre) of Moncton, New Brunswick; his niece Kyra Lavallee; three nephews, Noah, Ethan, and Aidan Wylie, and extended family members and friends.
Guy was a very kind and generous man, always willing to help others if he could. He was his mother’s right-hand man and lived with her till her passing and moved into Catherine Place shortly after. He had a phenomenal memory and was like a human telephone book. In his younger years, he enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing, hunting and snowmobiling with the family.
When he was a teenager, he started working part-time as a Dietetic Aide at the St. Boniface Hospital. He ended up dedicating the rest of his working career to the hospital doing several different jobs including Housekeeping and Portering. Guy was considered a very hard worker and was very meticulous at whatever he did.
Guy enjoyed watching wrestling and hockey as he cheered on the Montreal Canadians. He was equipment manager for the St. Boniface Mohawks and enjoyed travelling to Thunder Bay with the team. He also enjoyed helping out with the landscaping and gardening. He travelled to Moncton when he could to spend time with his nephews as he loved entertaining children. In the more recent years, Guy was fond of his weekly visits with his sister Michelle who introduced him to adult colouring books which became his favourite pastime. He also looked forward to his weekly visits from support workers (Rose and then Matt) provided by Sara Riel Inc.
The family would like to thank the staff at Catherine Place, the staff from Sara Riel and Dr. Kevin Coates for providing ongoing support.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Donations in memory of Guy may be made to Sara Riel Inc. 101 – 66 Moore Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2M 2C4 or at

I was saddened to see Guy in the obits. Far too young. We worked together in HKSP back in the good old days at St. B. Guy was always the go to guy for getting things done in the dept. He was a Master mover getting furniture moved up & down the elevators of the school of nursing, and always had a little chuckle doing it. Guy was an integral part of the St Boniface Mohawks for all my years playing there. He was very much underappreciated as he kept things running smoothly both on the road and at home. One of the first to arrive and last to leave he dedicated himself with little fanfare or acknowledgement. He had a very low key sense of humor and loved to laugh. Never a bad word about anyone except for a player on the opposing team and always looking at the bright side of things. He will be missed. - Posted by: Kelvin Loeb (Friend/teammate) on: Dec 19, 2023
