It is with heavy hearts we announce that on Sunday, December 10, 2023, our mom, our matriarch, peacefully left this world at the age of 85.
Left to mourn her passing are her children Carol, Colleen (Paul), Lucien Jr., Connie, and Carrie; grandchildren, Carlette, Nolan, Blaine, James and Kenah; great-grandchildren, Kylah, Bryce, Kane, and Knight.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Lucien Coutu (Sheriff), in August of 2010. Also, her parents Jean-Baptiste and Marie Richard, in-laws Henri Pierre and Marie Coutu, and all her siblings, Catherine Guiboche, Elizabeth Anderson, Evelynn Norman, Frank Richard, Dorothy Derkach, Emile Richard, and Beatrice Bazley.
Mom was born in St. Laurent, MB, on April 14, 1938, and married our dad Victor Lucien Coutu on February 19, 1955. They moved to Winnipeg shortly thereafter and raised a family of five children.
Our mom was everyone’s rock through thick and thin and she worked tirelessly for her children and her grandchildren throughout her life. She loved Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas as these special holidays brought the family together under one roof and brought her the fondest of memories.
Our mom was quick witted, which made us laugh constantly. We will miss her unwavering love, spirit, wit, care, and kindness, as well as her undeniable strength.
A special thank you to the staff on unit one of St. Joseph’s PCH for their continuous care they bestowed upon our mom. In turn, Mom made them laugh, dance, and sing. One staff member even brought his guitar and sang tunes for our mom. They were especially charmed with her fun spirit and spunk.
Rest in peace, Mom.
Prayers and interment will take place on January 6, 2024, in the St. Laurent Catholic Church in St. Laurent, MB, at 11:00 a.m. Father Paul Tinguely officiating, followed by lunch at the St. Laurent Royal Canadian Métis Legion.

My condolences to the Families. This wonderful woman was always smiling when I visited. Sometimes we were naughty teens but she made you feel loved. What a pleasure to have known her. All my best to Connie, my dear friend and siblings. Love you all. Theresa Morin - Posted by: theresa morin (friend) on: Dec 16, 2023
