Marilyn Erb passed away suddenly on December 20, 2023 at the age of 80.
She was predeceased by her husband Doug, son Tim, father Mervin Stenberg, mother Alice Johnson, step-father John Johnson, brother Randy Johnson, sister Bev Fossay and in-law’s Ted and Hazel Erb, Gary Erb and Kelly Erb.
Left to mourn are sons, Brad (Louise) and their children Brodie (Megan), Madison (Gabrielle) and Michael (Hannah), Jamie (Cheryl) and their children Connor, McKenzie and Taylor, Derek (Erin) and their children Maggie and Grace; daughter in-law Kristine and her children Molly and Jed; brother Doug (Kathy) Johnson and granddaughter Misty as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Mom was born May 10, 1943. She was raised and spent her childhood in Starbuck. Right up to her passing her many relatives and childhood friends from there and the surrounding area held a special place in her heart. Mom and Dad were married August 29, 1961 and moved to Oak Bluff, residing in a school residence for the first two years before moving to the farm just outside of Oak Bluff. She remained there until her passing. Mom and Dad were married two weeks shy of 60 years before Dad’s passing in August 2021.
Mom worked at Enns Brothers for nearly 25 years until her retirement in 1998. She was a valued employee and they treated her as family. While the farm was expanding in the 1990’s Mom played an important role as a partner in the operation, managing the day to day detail associated with a farm before they retired in 2010.
Mom was the most selfless, patient person one would encounter. Reflecting on the years when there were four young boys as active as they were it marvels at how we always came before her interests. Any activity we showed an interest in she fully supported and would make the sacrifice to make it happen. All throughout her life she wanted to know of her family’s accomplishments, big or small and took great pride in those moments. As the family grew Mom embraced all the additions with open arms, a big hug and a joyful smile. In her later years her grandchildren became the joy of her life. Each and every one of them had a unique and loving relationship with her. Whether it was having lunch, watching her favorite gameshow, chatting about life or telling tall tales Gran, as she was known touched the heart of all of them.
Mom was blessed with a circle of friends that she cherished, both at home and in Texas where her and Dad wintered for over 20 years. Many of them taking the time to reach out to her after the passing of Dad and her health failing.
Mom beyond the sacrifices she made for her family had the time for some hobbies she took great pride in. Mom had a lifelong passion for reading. She loved to plant flowers, the backyard at the farm was a sea of colors each summer. The garden was immaculately kept. Mom also loved to birdwatch. There are countless books at home and in Texas about birds. She especially loved seeing Orioles in the backyard. In her 50’s mom started golfing and it became a passion of hers. She became quite good at it and it became another bond she had with family and friends.
Mom was a person of faith, her church and her relationship with god were a guiding light in her life.
To those that knew Mom they would say she was compassionate, generous, caring and above all else a loving person who in her own way made an impactful impression upon their lives. Forever missed and always loved.
Memorial service will be held on January 3rd, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran, 101-125 MacDonald Road, Starbuck MB with reception to follow at the Oak Bluff Hall. Private family interment at a later date.

My sincere sympathy to the Erb children, spouses and their families. Marilyn was a very kind person. It didn’t matter when you saw her she never changed, always had a smile. I remember when she came to church she would have vegetables out of her garden to pass around. There was always something for me to take home. She will be sadly missed. 🙏🏻 - Posted by: Shirley Ammeter (friend) on: Jan 03, 2024
