STAN MAZUR

1936 - 2023

Stan passed away on December 21, 2023, at the Brandon Assiniboine Center. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ides, daughters Lisa and Laurel, and granddaughters Megan and Rachel.

Stan was born on October 24, 1936, to John and Mary Mazur. He was predeceased by his parents and infant brother, Charles, and many relatives across Canada and in Germany. He was raised in Allegra, Manitoba which had been the Mazur homestead for many generations. He met his wife Ides in Beausejour and they married on August 1, 1964. Stan and Ides started their family in Winnipeg and moved to Brandon in 1972.

Retiring from Manitoba Hydro after 34 years of service, Stan and Ides moved to Clear Lake, and enjoyed many winters in Arizona. He was happiest with family and friends anywhere he went. He loved to fish, curl, bike, deliver newspapers to friends, walk the family dogs, and tend his garden. Stan selflessly volunteered his time to several organizations such as the Lions Club, United Way, and the Brandon Hospital. In 1990, the Lions Club International awarded Stan the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for his 10 years chairing meetings to build Brandon’s Lions Manor.

A special thank you to Stan’s doctors, nurses, and friends at Assiniboine Centre.

The funeral service for Stan will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3101 Victoria Ave, Brandon, MB, on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to join the interment at Rosewood Gardens immediately followed by a luncheon at Grace Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Stan’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2B7, The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, 2300 Yonge St, Suite 1200, Box 2414, Toronto, ON, M4P 1E4, or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 1K2.

With his work well done, may he rest in peace.

  • So sorry for your loss, I knew Stan many many years ago when he lived with his parents on Furby or Langside St. We chimed together for quite a few years. Stan was working at Sherbrook Motors part time to further his education, great guy, we had so much fun going to barn dances in the Interlake Area. RIP old friend. - Posted by: William [[Jerry ]]] Fizell (Old friend ) on: Jan 01, 2024
