George Downey passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
George was born on November 3, 1944. He grew up in Wellwood and later moved to Carberry. He worked at the Carberry Potato Plant until he retired in July 2005.
George leaves to mourn him is his wife Carol, son Shawn (Shannon), daughter-in-law Shannon, stepsons Shaun (Angela) Cameron and Chris (Tenley) Cameron, seven grandchildren Jasmine, Ethan, Jordan, Riley, Jace, Penelope, and Sullivan, and two sisters Ilaine and Phyllis.
He was predeceased by both parents, sister Charlotte, her husband Tom Evans, and his son Jayson.
George enjoyed camping and going to the lake for fishing. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed going to bingo.
A private interment will take place.
Donations in memory of George may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrooke Street, Winnipeg, MB., R3C 2B7.
