URSULA GANSTER
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of Ursula Ganster (nee Kolanski) on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 80.
Ursula will be dearly missed by her loving, devoted husband Josef (Joe) of 60 years; her daughter Christine; granddaughters, Alyssa (Daniel), Rebecca (Matt); great-grandson Daxton and other family and friends.
Born in France, grew up in Germany, where as a teenager she met the love of her life Josef. They married in 1963, moved to Winnipeg, MB in Canada and started their family.
Ursula joined the retail workforce with McDiarmid Lumber, then Gambles for many years and retired from Saans.
Ursula's passion was gardening, baking and making delicious German dishes. With her incredible green thumb, the yard was always a beautiful sea of colors each summer. Flowers she grew from seeds, the spectacular garden and can't forget the houseplants. She enjoyed watching and feeding the many birds that flocked to the yard each year. Come fall, the Christmas baking would begin; Crazy amounts, varieties of cookies, dessert bars and her amazing cheesecake!
Ursula loved to socialize. A few years ago, Ursula and Joe joined the Chalmers CC where they enjoyed visiting with friends while carpeting bowling and curling.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB on Monday, January 8th at 12:30 p.m., followed by internment.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Ursula's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
