JANICE (JAN) ELAINE FONTAINE

November 3 1956-December 26 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our one-of-a-kind Aunty Jan, after a five year battle with cancer. She passed away on Tuesday December 26, 2023 at the age of 67.

Jan was born on November 3,1956 in Winnipeg, MB. Jan was predeceased by her father Leo, mother Victoria, brother Wayne, niece Laura.

Jan leaves to cherish her memory her brother Rick (Joanne), nieces, Heather (Mark) Leclerc, and April (Chris) Goodman, great-nieces, Allyson Leclerc and Sarah Goodman, great-nephew Nathan Leclerc as well as many best and close friends.

In her younger years, Jan could always be found hanging around the baseball diamond either playing or watching her nieces or nephew. Her first love for travel came when her brother Wayne moved to New Jersey where she visited him often. After Wayne’s passing her travels then took her to warmer destinations and nobody loved the sun more than her. When travelling became too much she then turned her attention to her new passion walking. Her many walking adventures always seemed to lead her to a Tim Hortons which ended in an Iced Capp.

Jan sure loved her TV and watching the Olympic Games, the Winnipeg Jets, Survivor, and many other shows as her PVR was full.

Jan’s working career in the Manitoba Government for 30 plus years gave her many unbelievable experiences resulting in many friendships that she still has today.

Celebration of Jan's Life - Saturday, January 6, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Parish Church, 778 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Memorial donations in Jan's memory may be made to the Lung Cancer Society of Manitoba.

Jan you were loved by all and you will be greatly missed and remembered always.

We love you forever and always.

If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together, there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart,

I’ll always be with you.
