Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT BRUCE REIMER
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Bruce Reimer on January 5, 2024, at St. Boniface Hospital, after a brief but courageous battle with Cancer.
Rob is survived by son Cody, daughter Alexis Lazo (Johnny), and daughter Madison Schott (Christian). Rob leaves behind seven beautiful grandchildren, Aurora, McQueen, Everly, Emilia, Tenley, McKenna, and Walker. Rob also leaves behind father Ernest Reimer, brother David (Jing), sister Leanne (Kevin), many other extended family members, and an abundance of great friends.
Rob was predeceased by mother Sandra Reimer, stepdad Clark Braun, and cousin James Gordon.
Dad was a busy body, and he loved to work. Fulfilling his days at Piston Ring Service on Wall Street. His knowledge for cars, and passion for his customers over the years left him with so many great friendships, many in which treated Dad as family. His love for hockey also left him with many great friendships. From playing to coaching, to becoming a fan in the stands watching the Winnipeg Jets and his grandchildren play. Dad simply loved the rink.
His final passion in life were his grandchildren. Papa Rob always made sure to pop by on weekends. From riding rides at Tinkertown, trips to Kansas City, spending time playing outside, to hours spent watching hockey and gymnastics. Dad lit up when he was with the kids.
We would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care over the last couple months. Special thanks to Dr. Farhana Shariff, Dr. Marvin Slutchuk, and the entire Palliative Care team. Thank you to all of dad’s friends, co-workers, and customers who helped keep dad’s spirits up over this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, January 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

So Sad to have just learned of Rob’s passing. My grandfather and father went to Piston Ring which is why I took my car there. Rob was always such a wonderful person and there were a few times he fixed my cars for no charge. The world has lost a great man. Thank you for your kindness and expertise Sir. You will be missed. - Posted by: Michael (Client) on: Nov 02, 2024

I was stunned and saddened to hear of Rob’s illness and passing. My sincerest condolences go out to his entire family. He was kind and the most honest man I have ever met. He truly cared about his customers and went out of his way to resolve any mechanical issues they had. I enjoyed our conversations about camping and life in general. He be greatly missed. - Posted by: Lucy de Sousa (Client ) on: Apr 26, 2024

We first took our car to Esso at Muriel and Portage in or around 1990. He gave my son his first job on St James Street working in the car wash and pumps. We followed him to Wall Street and Ellice then to Piston Ring on Erin. I went in a couple of weeks ago to get my tires changed and asked if he took the day off. That’s when Terry told me of his passing. He was a wonderfully kind person. Loved his sense of humour. He is truly missed - Posted by: Donna Dineen (Client) on: Apr 26, 2024

I was shocked and heartbroken to find out about Rob's passing. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. There wasn't a time where I didn't take my vehicle to Rob (regardless of location) - 25+ years. He was a true gem and 100% honest and reliable. I think I have know Rob for almost 30 some years or so. Met him at Piston Ring that many years ago and Rob has always been beyond great with the best service in this industry, at Piston Ring. Both myself and my wife Coleen are so sad about this news. A great great guy gone way too early. Sadly missed, always remembered. - Posted by: Barry Smitke (customer and friend) on: Feb 07, 2024

It seems like I knew Rob forever. I was introduced to him when I was asking someone "where can you find a competent, honest mechanic these days?" He told me to go see Rob at the old Polo Park Esso 40 years ago and I never had to look again! I followed Rob to whatever garage he opened up, he was that good! But he became more than that. We developed a friendship over the years that far surpassed our need of cars. I fondly remember a trip to Bimidji for a golf tournament and Rob was such a character in a guys outing! Full of fun and mischief and we all had a blast! I will really miss him! - Posted by: Scott Lougheed (Friend and client) on: Feb 02, 2024

So very shocked to hear of the passing of our great friend, Rob Reimer. Always gave us such great advice on our cars' maintenance problems. And he not only knew his customers by their cars but he got to know their stories as well. Always remembered our names, where we were working and stuff about our families. We will really miss him. Sincerest sympathies go out to all his family. You'll have such amazing memories to bring you peace. - Posted by: Murray and Bill Randall (Friends) on: Jan 28, 2024

Knowing Rob for the last 3 years wasn’t enough. Every morning at 650 am I would walk by Car Care and Rob would be at the front counter and would always wave or I’ll just hang out with him inside for a few mins talking about hockey, his life, cars and getting to know him! Sometimes I call him uncle, just to respect him. Last time I saw Rob was in Dec 2023 after I heard the sad news about his condition, saw him at car care in the morning and gave him a hand shake, man hug and wished him well and stay strong! I walked out with tears in my eyes. Now your pain free Rob. Your a great man and we down here miss you and thanks for the great talks we had and getting to know each other. Memories last forever my friend. Rest Easy - Posted by: Chris Hnatyshyn (Coworker ) on: Jan 22, 2024

I would like to send our deepest condolences to the Reimer Family. Our family, THE HANSONS, have been very close to Rob for many years when he first stated coaching the boys on the Monarchs Hockey team. Since then, Rob and my self have had great stories to tell each other. Rob has looked at all aspects of repairs for my families vehicles over the years. There was nothing Rob could not fix, Ever. He loved when my sister Joan would visit him monthly, with her banana bread, and his favorite, chocolate chip cookies. Rob you will sadly missed by all of us and never forgotten. Your GOOD Friend, JOHN HANSON AND FAMILY. R.I.P. ROB. - Posted by: John Andrew Hanson (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2024

Cody, Madison, Alexis. I just wanted to share my thoughts with the family. Life is certainly unpredictable. I was really heartbroken when I heard of Robs condition. Those years managing for him was awesome and we definitely had some challenging years but we got through them as a team. Our greatest accomplishments were the year we won the Cities, the Provincials and then the Bantam 1 Westerns with the Monarchs. We definitely had a terrific run. You dedicated thousands of hours to all those players over the many years and your incredible dedication had an awesome influence on those players. You left your mark with those players and you were definitely well respected in the HOCKEY COMMUNITY. It was my pleasure to be apart of your accomplishments and the many teams we VOLUNTEERED for. I for one will miss your quirky sense of humor and you are leaving us with many memories. I'm glad that my sons got to know you Rob. In my heart ❤️ and you will be in my thoughts. Thanks for the memories. You will be sorely missed. Love 💕 Joyce. - Posted by: Joyce webinger (Friend ) on: Jan 13, 2024
