MARIA DO CARMO SOUSA

September 22, 1926 - January 12, 2024

With great sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother Maria Do Carmo Goncalves Sousa, January 12, 2024. Mom passed peacefully in hospital with her children by her side.

Mom is predeceased by her husband Jose Mauricio, siblings, Lucilia, Jose, Joao, Manuel, Lurdes, and grandson Danny.

She leaves to mourn, one remaining sister Fernanda, her six children Antonio, Joao (Georgina), Fernando (Annie), Susana (Antonio), Analia (Joao) and Ana Paula, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria Do Carmo Sousa, born in Maia, Sao Miguel, passed peacefully in hospital with her children by her side.
Her great pride and joy, being mother to six children, grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of 13, great-great-grandmother of five and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
An amazing caring woman, who loved to tell stories, always full of energy. Singing and dancing gave her so much happiness.
She had unconditional love for family and friends, as well as a loving smile and hug for everyone. A gentle caring sole, respected by her family and the community. A small woman with a huge presence and impact on those who came to know her.
She will be greatly missed and leaves a huge void that will be difficult to fill. May she rest in eternal peace knowing how deeply she is loved and respected.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday January 19, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street North. Viewing will be held prior to service starting at 11:00 a.m.
