Fanny (known as Fran) McCarthy (nee Chambers) was born July 2, 1934, at St. Boniface Hospital, and grew up in the Weston area of Winnipeg.
She was the third daughter of Thomas and Frances Chambers of Banbridge, Northern Ireland.
Fran was predeceased by her parents, her husband Donald in March 2018, and four siblings, Evelyn, Doreen, Don, and Neil.
She is survived by her children, Colleen (Drew) and Ian (Brenda); her grandchildren, Robin, Rowan, and Michael, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Northern Ireland.
At Fran's request, no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society, 204-825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5 (204) 992-2731.

My sincere condolences to you Ian and Brenda as well as your sister and all your family. Fran had been a good friend, an excellent co-worker at St Boniface Hospital, and later, a dear client, as well as your Dad and yourselves. Losing a Mom is difficult but I hope these words that I received when my own Mom died, help you: "Be not sorry that your mother died but be thankful that she was yours".
