JAMES FRANKLIN GRAY


James Franklin Gray passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024.



Born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, May 19, 1938.



Jim is survived by the love of his life Carol Gray. He is also survived by his sister Diana (Dan); brothers Gordon (Sharon) and Bruce (Bev); his sons Dale and Terry; his daughters Susan McRae (Terry), Sherri Barnes, and Cathy Gray (Scott); and stepsons Douglas (Robyn) and Greg (Heather) Thompson. Also mourning his loss are his grandchildren (Dale) Sean, Michael, Christopher; (Susan) Brian, Julie; (Terry) MacKenzie, Kennedy; (Sherri) Owen, Cole; (Cathy) Charlize, Riley; (Doug) Madison, Morgan, Lyndsee; (Greg) Zachary, Dylan. He leaves behind great-grandsons (Julie) Parker; (Morgan) Oliver, and great-granddaughter (Sean) Artis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.



Jim was predeceased by his sister Joan.



Jim grew up in Stonewall, where he was active in baseball and hockey. He graduated and entered the School of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba. Then he began a 37-year career in pharmaceuticals, with Schering / Merck Corporation. He worked in several cities across Canada and finally relocated to Montreal where he was the Sales Director for two major divisions within the company and mentored several individuals who later became worldwide CEOs. He was also a member of a corporate advisory panel, coaching and mentoring Canadian and US sales managers of the corporation.



Jim and Carol travelled extensively in Europe and the USA during his career and his retirement. They enjoyed having all the family at their first cottage at Caddy Lake, and later shared a cottage with Greg and his family in the Lake of the Woods, where fishing and boating were popular past times. During his lifetime, Jim’s hobbies included private flying, training Labrador Retrievers, hunting, and coaching hockey and baseball.



Service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Wednesday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m.
