Klaas Lengyel, 77, of Winnipeg, passed away January 20, 2024, peacefully in his sleep, with his family at his side. He was born to Hendrika and Ferenc Lengyel in Holland, immigrated to Canada at a young age.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife Bertha and twin brother Frank. Klaas is survived by his six children, Janey (Shawn), Gordon (Annie), Scott (Erin), Lee (Shelley), Mark (Laurel) and Hank; as well as his 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Klaas also leaves behind his siblings, Les, Irene and Susan.
Klaas was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, enjoyed his trains, reading sci-fi and bragging about his kids. Klaas met his loving wife of 49 years at Culinary School. He worked hard, made friends easily and enjoyed learning. Klaas had an unique sense of style and his smile lit up a room.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception and burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Manitoba Special Olympics.
