RONALD MITCHELL BABULA
Peacefully, with his wife Margit at his side, Ron passed away on January 19, 2024 at Riverview Health Center.
Ron was born in Winnipeg and though he was never a fan of the cold, this was his home. Following graduation from high school, he made a few interesting choices work-wise and eventually settled at Canada Post where he worked for 30+ years, retiring in 2000. He made many lifelong friends during those years and actually enjoyed going to work.
He loved all kinds of music. Top of the list was Bob Dylan, but recently, Willie Nelson ran a close second. He was an avid bird watcher, identifying and keeping a log of his sightings. He knew migration habits, nesting habits, different colorings that distinguished them and liked to predict the start of spring or fall based on which birds were on the move.
A world of knowledge has been lost with Ron, as he remembered everything he ever learned or read. His ability to recall information was amazing. From music and artists, to geography and history, to books and movies. He knew facts and figures and referred to himself as ‘a fountain of useless information.’ He was our Google before Google.
A favourite saying of his was "I am a man of many talents, but master of none." Those who knew him would disagree. He was a master at all he did, had a fierce sense of fairness, loyal to a fault, always kind, always gentle. And to his family, always loving. His passing has left a huge void in many lives.
Ron will be forever cherished by his wife Margit, sister Joyce (Graham), sisters-in-law, Angie and Ingrid (Tony), and many nieces and nephews.
Ron loved all animals and was a supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society. Please consider making a donation in his memory.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Ron was always a inspiration to everyone in the family. His light hearted side of humor will be missed by everyone on any topic. He always had a good story to tell or give good advice weather it was to the in laws or the kid's. Thank you Ron. - Posted by: Tony & Family (Family ) on: Jan 29, 2024

Condolences to Ron’s wife and all of his extended family. Knew Ron in our younger days. He was always respectful, polite and fun to be around. Saw him a few years ago only once at the grocery store parking lot in Oakbank where we spoke briefly. It was great to see an old friend. To his wife and family, I hope your good memories of him see you through this sad time. Please accept my condolences.
