Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDYTHE VERNA SHOLIKOWSKI
In Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 83, Mom peacefully passed with her family by her side. Holding her in loving memory is her partner Gino Collucci; children, Ronald, Leonard (Gerrie), Debbie (Gordon) Wiebe; grandchildren, Amber (Ryan), Amanda (Kurt), Cory (Kara), Andrew, Tyler (Kelsey), Katrina (Bryan), Carly; great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Ethan, Kahlan, Willow, Rowan and Frankie; sister-in-law Josephine Gorchynski and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Alfred; mother Helen Jeising; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Caroline Sholikowski, as well as numerous sister in-laws, brother in-laws, and cousins.
Mom was born in Winnipeg, MB. She was an only child and had many fond memories of playing with her cousins in her younger days. She studied to become a social worker and had a 35-year career at the Health Sciences Centre with the Child Health Program, retiring in 2006.
In July of 1972 she married the love of her life, Alfred and they built a home in the Springfield area where she continued to live for 50 years. They had a lot of fun together, picking mushrooms, blueberries, going to baseball games and most of all spending time with their children and grandchildren. She cared for her mother in her later years and even had the name plate on their truck say, “Alfred, Edythe and mother-in-law”.
Several years after Alfred passed, she met Gino and they would spend time in Sioux Lookout or in Springfield. They had many great memories together and would do the crossword puzzle every night when they were together or over the phone. She became close with Gino’s family as well. She moved to Concordia Village in August of 2022 and soon became very involved in their community. She loved it there. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will forever cherish the many memories they had. She did life in a big way and always celebrated each holiday to the max with decorations everywhere. She loved Christmas and Halloween the most. She loved animals and had numerous pets over the years. She will be lovingly remembered by all those who knew her and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
A special thanks to Dr. McElhoes for the great care over the years, Dr. James Paul at CancerCare and to the staff at Concordia Hospital.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edye’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Winnipeg Humane Society, or the Canadian Wildlife Federation.

Dear Eddie. The first time I met her, we stayed up all night and I heard her life story!!! Her husband said come to bed, you have to work in the morning and I agreed. Nope. She kept on talking then got ready for work with no sleep!!! She said she hadn't felt so good in a long time, unburdening all her thoughts and feelings. We were instant friends and I loved her and the whole family. They were tight knit family, a pleasure to be around. - Posted by: Karen Mitchell (Friend) on: May 02, 2024

I am sorry to hear of Edythe's passing. I met Edythe last year when my Mom moved across the hall from her at Concordia Village. Edythe was quick to offer friendship to my Mom which she appreciated. Whenever I saw her she was smiling and always had a hug to offer. Our thoughts are with you at this time. Lorraine and Brenda - Posted by: Brenda Szunyog (Friend) on: Jan 28, 2024
