Gerald (Jerry) Mackenzie passed away peacefully on January 23, 2024, at the age of 91.
He is survived by one son Robert. He was predeceased by his wife Edey, of 59 years, parents, Leroy and Bella, three brothers and one sister.
He was born in Moncton, NB and in 1953 met his wife Edey. They started out married life with very little and built a comfortable life. In the early years he joined the Air Force and four years stationed in Germany was a highlight of their lives. Avid campers they travelled throughout Europe, returning to Canada in 1962 to Greenwood, NS, where they continued building their life and travelling around the east coast.
He moved to Winnipeg in 1967 and later retired from the Air Force and started working for the Manitoba Government, retiring in 1992. They moved to their cottage, now home, where he maintained the place becoming very proficient at minor construction and repairs.
A serious car accident as a passenger in his early teen years kept him from getting his drivers license, after he retired he proudly did get a drivers license and also a moped with which he toured the Grand Beach area. The first year of retirement he also helped his son build his house. He finally moved to Selkirk in 2020 where he spent his remaining years.
Thanks goes out to Betel Home front line staff for their care and the difficult work in the personal care home that they do.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held at a later date.

The baby of the MacKenzie boys! Uncle Gerry, you were so fun loving and such a comedian! Even though I was younger when I knew you, I have fun memories of our times in New Brunswick. Deepest condolences to you Bobby. Hope all of you aren't tormenting poor Norma up there!
