Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN THOMAS MOORE
John Thomas Moore passed peacefully with his family by his side on January 20, 2024, after his years long battle with Lewy body disease.
John was born February 22, 1941, in Winnipeg and was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Rose Moore, and brother Donald Moore. He is survived by his dear partner Morgan Hazledine; son Darren (Sheri), daughter Gillian, son Graham (Faye); grandchildren, Jamie (Evan), Taylor (Luis), Damon and Brianna; his great-grandchildren, Nolan, Liam, Madison and Kali, and his aunt Lorraine.
John’s early years were spent growing up in a large Italian family in the north end of Winnipeg and later in the newly developed Westwood neighborhood. John’s (or JT) passion was for rock n roll music. He picked up his first guitar at an early age and was hooked. JT was part of the 50s and 60s rock scene in Winnipeg and played with numerous bands and talented musicians. His rock life took a pause when he decided to have a family with Geraldine and join the working class. He primarily worked at the University of Manitoba bookstore and was responsible for the office stationery products. He met many good friends at his tenure with the U of M which were there for him throughout his life. Aside from music, he liked watching and playing sports, the outdoors, gardening and making vino. He took up running in his 30s and ran several marathons. In his middle age, he restarted his passion for music and joined many bands to play gigs at various venues. Later in life he met Morgan, who was very much like him, young at heart. They lived life to it’s fullest in their own way and she was his rock going through the difficult years of his disease.
The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview for their compassion and making JT’s last years as good as they could be.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

I remember John and his dear family, his mother Rose and especially his brother Don. We spent a lot of time with Don when he was so ill. That was always such a special part of being with John and also together with the whole family. I was part of this family through their cousin Bill Backman. I will always remember the family, their warmth and loving spirit. May John rest in the arms of angels and be taken to his eternal rest in peace and abundance.
