After a lengthy illness, Jayne passed quietly at the Middlechurch Home in Winnipeg on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
Jayne was born near Zagreb, Yugoslavia on April 6, 1940. She was a baby when her parents decided to move further into Europe to escape the perils of the Second World War. She and her brother and parents fled to Austria where they were lodged on a farm near Munich. They lived on this farm until her parents decided to move to Canada.
Upon arrival in Winnipeg, she attended Machray Elementary School and eventually went on to Tec Voc. Jayne was a good student and learned English very quickly. Upon graduation, she was hired by Manitoba Hydro to be a key punch operator, and eventually worked her way up to be an executive assistant.
Jayne loved music and sports and was an excellent baseball player in her youth. She met Oleg Toews and soon wedding plans were made. They purchased a home in East Kildonan.
Jayne is survived by daughter Corinne and her husband Brian, residing in Ajax Ontario; cousins, Frank and his family and Kathleen and her husband, also in Ontario, and niece Rosemary and her husband and son residing in London Ontario.
