EVELYN BATENCHUK

(nee MILLINCHUK)

April 6, 1936 - January 19, 2024

Peacefully on January 19, 2023, at the age of 87 Mom went to be with the Lord.

Left to cherish Evelyn's memory are her children Tim, Reg (Gail), Colleen (Ken), Kelly (Neil); grandchildren, Katie and Aiden, sister Rose; and many nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband Ted, her parents Steve and Sophie; sisters, Kay, and Helen; and brothers, Nick, and Jim.

Evelyn was born on April 6, 1936, in Sandy Lake, Manitoba, then moved to Winnipeg at age 17. She worked at Western Grocers, Boeing and finally at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, but her full-time job was being Mom to her four children.

Evelyn enjoyed cooking, hosting family dinners, picking blueberries and wild mushrooms. Many summers were spent camping and water skiing, taking road trips and spending time at the country pool with her family and friends. She was also deeply involved with her church and had a passion for the Lord. Evelyn especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking them to church, teaching them to cook and playing games.

Evelyn was a hard worker and a caregiver to anyone in need, she will fondly be remembered for her strength and unconditional love and acceptance for all.

The family would like to thank all of those who cared for, visited, and prayed for Mom.

Cremation has taken place, and a private memorial has been held.

May you always walk in sunshine and God's love around you flow, for the happiness you gave us, no one will ever know. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, a part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

  • Words can not explain how I feel but you will be missed Mrs B. Still in shock because we spoke a few weeks before your passing. Mrs B. loved the Lord, and seeing her and her grandchildren (Katie & Aiden) at church was always a pleasure. She was kindhearted and soft-spoken, most importantly she was ready to listen. May her gentle soul rest in heaven and I pray that God's peace that surpasses all understanding comforts the rest of the family. - Posted by: Moses (Sunday School Teacher to her grandchildren (Katie & Aiden)) on: Jan 28, 2024
